Knicks · Cole Aldrich (page 1)

Since we lost Bargs and Cole went into the back up 5 position--we have won the rebounding #'s by good amounts every game. We have a lot of guys who can score-but all of the important pieces from 12 minute back ups to the star have now been better aligned for this team. Hes a good guy to sign as well going forward for 1mm per for the next 3 years to keep continuity. A guy who can get you 13-15 boards per 35 minutes and play good defense--having a guy like that at minimal cost is important we havent really used Cole all year. Last year we had many more role players--guys just knew what to do--and Bargs --not him personally but his game through off everything here. I think sign BOTH Aldrich and Tyler to 3-4 year contracts for minimal $$$ after this season--give them some security and give us young bigs we can grow with. They dont have to be the stars--thye have to be the value players every good team has.

Cole gobbles up boards but is non existent on offense. If another struggling offensive player is on the floor with him the Knicks are at a huge disadvantage on the offensive end. Maybe Cole's offense improves with minutes.

Cole is a legit backup C. Getting him secured would be nice.
Apparently Tyler's deal is 2 years

FOr a former 1st its interesting that teams do not keep him around even though during each stint he showed the ability to contribute, albeit in small sample sizes. I would like to see more true back up minutes to get a better feel.

Cole has had a good stretch, lets see what happens with better competition. Spent most of his time here getting badly boxed out in the paint on D, so Id like to see if this is more than just an anomaly. More impressed with Tyler's emergence since they both started getting minutes.

Yeah, I've wondered about that too.

2 years? Got a link?

That would be great news.

Briggs I'm surprised more posters haven't mentioned role players actually having a distinct role on the team. Guys who don't have to try and do so many things while on the court, but just specialize what they are good at. I see Kmart and Coles playing the same role.

I see Bargs and Amare playing the same role, why hasn't Woodson given each player on the team a distinct role when they get on the floor.
