Knicks · It's time for Phil Jackson (page 1)

Only coach who can save Dolan from himself. Do it now while there is still time to get this turned around. 2 weeks till the trade deadline and a few games back of the playoff hunt. Schedules getting tougher, there is no more time to waste
TeamBall @ 2/6/2014 12:45 PM
Dude no coach wants to come and try to fix this mess halfway into the season, especially Phil. If you want Phil you hire him in the off season, give him the keys, and basically don't do what James Dolan does.
fishmike @ 2/6/2014 12:48 PM
We had that guy... his name was Larry Brown. Took Iverson to the finals and MVP, took a Piston's team with no star player to b2b finals and a slap down of Phil's Lakers remember? That turned out well....

Didn't hear that Brown had any interest in returning to coaching. Phil OTOH seems to be looking for one last moment in the spot light. Why wouldn't he take the job if it was available. When you're his age, the time is now...ya' know, while you still can. When you are 68, you don't have time to wait.

he doesnt... the point was Larry was the coach who was supposed to save all this. The coach with the juice card, the rings, the repoire with players... it was an epic disaster. Dolan would never subject himself to being called out by Phil, so he keeps yes-men at the helm

At some point, even Dolan will figure out a team that wins and is relevant can be even more profitable
misterearl @ 2/6/2014 1:17 PM
Phil is too old and too fragile for the grind of coaching.

Stop thinking small. Phil should be President of Basketball Operations.

Bill Bradley should be the owner. Mark Jackson head coach. Kurt Thomas replaces Herb Williams.

The circle is complete.

You forgot to throw in.......'And with the first pick in the draft, the NY Knicks select....'

68 is no longer too old thanks to modern medicine. Better health through chemistry!

You first need to get a superstar SG who is in the mold of Jordan and Kobe and maybe he will consider the Knicks job.

there's a few players on this team that'd be punching their tickets on the next express train out of town w/o question.

NYKBocker @ 2/6/2014 1:48 PM
Phil Jackson does not want to coach this mess. He will be the next coach in LaLa land.
arkrud @ 2/6/2014 1:58 PM
If Dolan will come up and announce he will go away from Knicks dangling as he did for Rangers it will be a line of coaches/GMs to work in NY. Before this is will be no one except some who interested only in NY style paycheck.
Rookie @ 2/6/2014 2:17 PM
I can give you 8M reasons why this can get done....make him the highest paid coach in the league
arkrud @ 2/6/2014 2:24 PM
He will sit on his high pad on the bench and... meditate.
I like it. We need something cool and calm.

they could use that for the opening titles on The Phil Jackson show on MSG.

ok - what gm worth anything will come to the knicks who have only have 2 first round picks in the next 4 drafts?
what coach worth anything will come to the knicks when there is virtually no way to improve the roster?

so no pressure
djsunyc @ 2/6/2014 2:38 PM
the only thing with more pressure is your sphincter after a plate of beans.

Didn't the Lakers sell their late 1st rd picks during Jackson's tenure?

yea.. that was a messy night
Rookie @ 2/6/2014 2:52 PM
We have a lot of big expiring contracts next season, our 1st rd pick in the offseason and then a crap load of cap space the following year. We need the right person at the helm so history doesn't repeat itself. Someone strong enough to say to Carlmelo."we love you and want you to stay, but if you really think you can get that on the FA market we wish you the best of luck.' Someone to tell Felton 'you are not a starter, if you want to be a starter, we can help facilitate a trade. Someone to develop the young kids....someone to tell the owner to take a step aback and let the professionals handle the basketball decisions and keep those useless friends of yours away from the team.

WE WANT PHIL!!
