He for 2 months is playing his heart out for a new contract. Is he that good? I wouldn't give up THJ
The New York Knicks are again interested in Kyle Lowry.
The Knicks were close to a trade for Lowry in December, but backed out of talks prior to a surge by Lowry and the Toronto Raptors. The Knicks and Raptors were discussing a trade involving Raymond Felton, Metta World Peace and a first round pick.
Lowry has been one of the NBA's best point guards over the past two months.
Lowry will be a free agent this offseason and the Raptors are unlikely to re-sign him.

Well then they will loose him for nothing at the end of the season because he ain't going to sign with Toronto again.

Probably not with the Knicks, but if Lowry is walking at seasons end they why wouldn't he sell high? Lowry's value is indisputably at an all time high at the moment.

A few points
A. Toronto has won the Atlantic division 1 time in their whole NBA life an has not made a playoffs in 6 years. As an owner why would you trade what has to be a PG who is playing at close to an all star level at this point in the season for a bag of 2nd tier goods?
B. Free agency next season isnt that good. Few teams have massive cap space. The raptors can give Lowry a 5th year--likely more $ than anyone else so they have as much chance as anyone to sign him if they choose to--or they can S+T him probably better than what the Knicks can offer.

1)Not too many teams are in the need of a pg in the nba today, which is why no team is banging on the rapters door.
2)As good as lowry is, every current contender is set at PG, every rebuilding team is set at pg, the chance of him staying in toronto pass this yr is a joke, i don't care if they throw a 5th yr in..no one volunteers to play there
3)There's no question lowry makes this team and roster much better, and can be a plus next to melo, barg, ty, and amre for this season and next.
4) why wouldn't lowry want to play in NY next to a sure super star.
this is the one trade i would give up a draft pick because felton and shump are playing horrible and there inconsistent play is brutal at times..
Just another embarrassing story to add to this miserable season....we could have had him for metta, Felton and 2018 #1

I've read that Toronto's ownership hasn't made up their mind about re-signing Lowry yet. Personally, I think Lowry was a no brainer to make the all-star team this year. Having Derozan on the team over him is a joke. But I am worried that he's playing at this level in a contract year and he's a few years away from 30. I'm not convinced he will maintain this level of play. I'm not thrilled with the prospect of giving away young players and a pick for a chance at signing Lowry to an $8 to $10 million a year deal.

Fair points but everything I read notes that the Raptors are determined to trade Lowry. I guess well see what happens in a week or so.

They did, with the 1st round daft pick of course.
I have given up on this team. I will now just roll with the punches. We will end up giving up a 1st and one of shump or THJ for Lowery only to get beat in the first round and have Lowry leave in the offseason. We will not be getting higher than the 7th seed with Lowry and I don't think we have a chance to beat Miami or the Pacers in a 4 game series.

Actually getting rid of Shumpert or THJ is a good thing. The Knicks need to determine which guy they want to develop at the 2 spot.
Be interesting to see what NYK do here. ppresumably, front office feel pressure to upgrade team to make more attractive to retain Melo. I worry that that motivation will lead to a poorly conceived trade.
Lowry a great player, but, until Melo situation resolved, wouldn't make any changes to coaching staff or roster. Once NYK - or Melo - decide - then significant changes required.

if that's the case that's still would have been worth it. We would be back to .500 ball by now and climbing.

I tried to tell DJ but he's hard headed.
Toronto aren't trying to change the culture, there ONLY interest is to use up hot players & make the most money for as less (paying out) as possible. Toronto has no history of wanting to continue to win long term.

You act like you've been proven right already just because an internet poster says the Raptors are unlikely to re-sign him.
The Raptors have paid plenty of players and even right now have one of the top payrolls in the league. I just don't see where you're getting your ideas from.
That said, Lowry isn't a player I'd give a gigantic contract to. I think a Lowry for Lin + 3 mil deal would make sense for both teams.

Lowry for 18 million are you serious? J/k. I actually think he is looking for 11 mill a year or the going rate the other pgs got like Lawson and holiday. Ideally I think a 3 to 4 year deal in the 8-11 range would be fine. As long as the year 15 number is with the 20% minimum decrease to save a little money for FA that year.
I would trade them Chandler/Felton for Lowry/Fields/Camby

OK, not sure where you got the 18 figure from. We really don't know what he's looking for but I'd assume he wants a big raise.
