Greatest NY athlete of my lifetime. Every time I think of how much joy it brought me to watch him and the Yankees I feel like a spoiled brat when I complain about the Knicks, although they're my #1.
I'm 31. Not many things make me feel old. But I was 11 when he broke in. Crazy. I'll miss watching him play. Pumped for 2014. Go Yanks.

Ditto on the old thang, although I am happy to be able to declare that I watched his entire career. So many memorable moments. My favorite was when he ran over from short to field the ball near the first base line and flip it to the catcher to save a run (which eventually saved a playoffs). But there were SO many others.
Glad he was never implicated in PED scandals. First balloter if ever there was one.

Forreal dough. I think I was a junior in HS when he was a rookie. Then I went to college in Mass and reveled in 4 chips right in enemy territory for maximum rub-it-in-their-faces pleasure. Oh it was so sweet watching all my masshole friends in agony. Lol. I got a lot of shit though when the Sox came back from 3-0. Phone calls, many drunken phone calls all night long. I even had my friend's pops berate me in a drunken stupor at like 3AM. LOL.
One of the best games I ever saw live was the one where Jeter dove into the stands to get that foul ball and was all bloody. Was siting right nearby. Awesome.
Jeter, El Duque, and Mariano will always be my all time favorites. Man it would be sweet to win it all in Jeters last season. Fingers crossed.

i couldn't agree more with anything you said. i'm 31, he's the best player ive ever seen in NY sports in my lifetime. he went about things the right way and handled himself and the yankees with class. it's going to suck in 2015 but i'm so grateful for all the years he's given me/yankee fans. sucks it had to happen sometime.
