Knicks · Tim Hardaway Jr taking over rookie game (page 3)

Bonn you agree we have the worst backcourt in the league. You forgot about Hardaway because he is buried on the bench during winnable games!

He is not a star being held back, he is a young player learning the game and got hot as hell in a game against a peer group not playing great defense.
Woodson has done a great job with this kid, not holding him back.
Great post. Also, recently he has been on the floor at the end of games. He often Is subbed out for d but is back for offense.

"you know how new york is they're gonna call for him to start every minute after this game."
Why are the Knicks wasting their time with malcontent like Shumpert. THJ needs max exposure he has star potential. I drew comparisons to Ray Allen. Knicks are just a dumb organization they don't know when a star falls into their laps. I guarantee you after THJ is finished with his Knicks career he will be nothing but a role player. This organization will waste his talents.
Playing with Melo is going to hurt THJ too. As soon as THJ starts making headlines Melo will freeze him out. Melo can be an attention whore. When Lin became bigger than Melo he couldn't stand the attention Lin was getting.
Melo needs to realize that his running mate is THJ. He is a serious player not like JR and definitely not like weak minded Shumpert. If Melo wants to recruit go get a star PG go get Rondo. Ask for a better coach and be willing to move with out the ball.
Wow.
gunsnewing@ 2/15/2014 9:49 AM
Then why does Woodson keep calling for Melo late in games when the defense is expecting it?

Im not sure, but his play is uneven at times and crunch time you go to what has worked. Last season he had 54 winning games with JR and Shump so lets just say he wants those guys back to those levels.
Im not naive to think somehow Woodson is surpressing Hardaway, in fact the kid is earning his minutes and that breeds confidence.
Hindsight is easy. Kid is getting better and better because he is not being overwhelmed. Thats development and I don't know why woodson does not get more accolades for it.

This is what could've been had we not undervalued our own young players and trade every last asset and pick. Or in some cases let assets walk because their contract offers were "RIDICULOUS"
Sorry but it doesn't work that way. You can't go back and mix former traded players with current players and assume that would be a current roster. If we had held Mozgov, we most likely wouldn't have Melo. If we didn't meke the Melo trade, we may not have picked up Lin. If we held Lee and Zbo. We would have had different regular season results and different draft slots, so may not have drafted Shump or Hardaway. There may have been no need to pick up Copeland or Tyler with a different mix of players on the team.

This is cracking me up, Tim Jr had a heck of a shooting exhibition go on display not taking nothing from that.
But it was a all-star game where we all were entertained , this wasn't a Championship game on display, it was a freaking exhibition game of guys trying to outscore one another with minimal resistance.
Yoots bring entertainment, they don't win you a Championship.
This is getting bad man, many of you are now equating entertainment with Championship aspirations.

You cherish what you have. What the point to crave for impossible? MSG is not the house on Champions. It's a house on clowns. Sit back and laugh you ass... of.

someone like THJ will help with championship aspirations, but it is true that this was more a rucker game or a practice session in the gym. even jkidd retired displayed that in a youtube video just a few days ago. most guards can do that, but that doesn't necessarily translate to a real playoff game. he has no nerves against sophs, but lets put him against ray allen or dwayne wade or another veteran shooting guard and lets see what happens.
RonRon@ 2/15/2014 11:35 AM
He sure does not lack confidence, he does however lack shot selection There was little to NO DEF in an ALL STAR game, that is not going to happen in a playoff series
Hardaway JR is similar to JR Smith in terms of talent and potential (when JR was younger although I think JR actually had the higher potential but lacked maturity) He seems like he is much more coachable and this will affect his future development along with his hunger/work ethic

He's been playing 31 mpg this month. How much do you want him to play? You're just fishing for reasons to criticize Woodson.

Good point. But you can say we probably wouldn't be worse than a .390 team without its lottery pick.

RonRon - stop with the comparisons. Tim Hardaway jr is nothing like JR Smith in the most important areas... adaptation, poise and intelligence.
Did you watch his poised post game interview? While Kenny Smith and crew were clowning, Hardaway simply sat back. Ernie Johnson noticed and eased him back into the conversation.
No, he is nothing like JR smith.
There is more to "talent and potential" basketball than the superficial.
GustavBahler@ 2/15/2014 2:41 PM
That rookie game is another example of why Hardaway is the most clutch player on this squad right now. Yes, it was just an exhibition, but bragging rights were on the line and his Dad was watching with family in the stands. THJ had a right to brag last night.
As far his minutes, overall I would say that he is getting a fair share. Hardaway has been playing a lot more lately. Where I differ with Woodson is the late game "dump the ball to Melo" mantra. It isn't just Hardaway I want to see trying a last second shot, but he's at the top of my list.
StarksEwing1@ 2/15/2014 3:09 PM
Hardaway is pretty much the only bright spot and player on want for the future

david lee was the mvp of one of these games wasn't he? but most folks on the interwebs wanted him gone too shortly thereafter...

Talk about overreacting to an all star game...I remember Knick fans thinking Kenny "Sky" Walker had finally arrived after he won the slam dunk contest...

Yes god forbid we can be excited for any Knick player besides Melo. Unfortunetly Hardaway is the only bright spot in once again a disasterous season
