Knicks · Resign Amare in 2015? (page 1)

Assuming he's still a Knick through next season, and "healthy", how many would sign him to a new contract?

Everybody including Amare knows his next contract will be much, much smaller.

Amare would be taking up the space of a young player. Only if Amare takes the minimum salary as a payback and to help us win a championship.

Agree. He should Take a Kenyon contract. Otherwise he should move on. He has looked spry recently but he is still a guy that could be done tomorrow because of past surgeries etc. Not sure that Amare's pride allows him to sign that kind of deal.

Heck NO!! I would not sign Amare even if it was for the min.

In 2015, Amare will be fortunate to be walking without a cane

FOr the right money he would be a valuable asset of the bench. I do wonder about what he could earn in FA though. I would imagine most team wouldn't guarantee his contract. Is 3-5 million his range and 2 yrs the max length teams would risk.

Would it be smart for the Knicks to ask STAT to opt out this summer to sign a long term 5 yr deal for 5-7 mil. That's a lot of money but is it worth it to get a head start in FA in 14?

Some people have said that STAT does in fact own a player option, not according to HoopsHype.com but I think ESPN or/and some other sites have it
Will STAT sacrifice for the better of the team? Possibly however, we would still need to find a way to move Chandler and AB, with Melo taking less, STAT taking signifigantly less, in order to target players this summer

5 years is the max a team can offer, now even at 5x5, STAT would be leaving money on the table that 1year of his deal and 1-2years of a vet min deal would be more
Even at the right price * if above the vet min*, I have mixed feelings about keeping STAT in 2015, I wouldn't mind it but we just don't know which STAT we would be getting

For a KM min contract sure. I give Stat props for his play this year. The man works hard, stays in great shape and still excels when he knows his role.
