Collison is a better Duhon, an upgrade on Felton.
We'll hate on Collison by the end of the season. Felton is getting moved so he can rebound with Kloe Kardashion.
If Shump will be a FA soon enough and I doubt we resign him so he is off to seek a better opportunity.
As long as we don't give up quality Yoot or picks maybe its a good deal. Better to make a small deal then a big mistake.
Toronto is not getting value for Lowrey and can make the playoffs so they should just hold on.

depends on cost. I like Teague in a salary dump... I would love him in a Jamal Crawford role, first guard off the bench. Can play point. Really good scorer. Really quick. Good tempo setter. We need a lot more.
I would rather spend and get a piece we can build around like Lowry. Guys like Teague and to a lesser degree Collison are ok but arent changing the dynamic of the team. A legit floor general could. Is that Collison? Hmmmm....
My question as well. Long term?
Long term probably a better option than Lowry price wise (Lowry is gonna cost us a ransom to get in a trade then we have to pay him. Plus Lowry is 28/29 years old. It seems Collison has been in the league forever but he is only 25. He put up good numbers when Paul was out and he has sone upside.
I am a huge Lowry fan. I love the guy and his game and his leadership. He is a real floor general. But I think they had 2 chances to get him. Once when Houston off loaded him to Toronto and they resigned Felton. The next was earlier this year. Now he is such a huge commitment to someone who isn't a proven centerpiece.
I would love to get him for a package of Shumpert, Felton, and I will throw in a pick because I don't trust this management (Mills) with picks. No multiple picks. No cash.
Collison isn't that bad a PG. It means they probably (hopefully) roll with Collison and Hardaway in the backcourt. Let's be honest. They had to choose between Hardaway and Shumpert and some point.
Getting Bullock would be a bonus. He is a very young player with size and upside and athleticism that was highly regarded coming out of college. I think he just got caught on a team in the midst of transitioning to a win now team.

When you say you'd rather spend more for a guy like Lowry, do you mean money, assets or both? I'm not as high on Lowry as you, but I agree that he's better than Teague and Collison. The thing is, Lowry is probably looking at a deal of $12 million a year. That's about what Ty Lawson makes and Lowry is playing at a similar level. I'd have no problem paying Lowry $4 million a year more than Teague if I were convinced he'd keep this level of play up. But if you're asking me if I'd rather Collison at his current deal (about $2 million) or Lowry at $12 million, I'd rather have Collison. Even if Collison opts out next year gets a deal at $4 million per, I'd still rather have Collison.
yellowboy90 wrote:If true though the real question is would or could they get a three team deal and bring in lowry with Collinson and Bullock going to Toronto and a protected 2018 1st.
great call... route Collison, Bullock and a #1 to the Raps for Lowry.
Knicks now look like this:
PG Lowry
SG THjr
SF Artest (dont laugh, its his time!!!)
PF Melo
C Chandler
Bench: Prigs, JR, Amare
We can work in KMart and move Melo to the 3 as well. Thats not an issue with a real PG in place
That looks like a solid squad to me.
Nalod nailed it. In a yr everyone is be crying that collision stinks. Fortunately he expires
Collinson seems to excel as CP3s back up- he looked great when CP3 went down with the meniscus a few years ago, and a lot of people on this board wanted us to trade for him that offseason. But then, when he got a starting gig with... The Pacers I think, and then the Mavs he was really disappointing. So I guess I wonder what Collinson we'd be getting- seems to have resurrected his career a bit, but again that's from playing as CP 3s back up.
I think he's a FA this offseason too? Didn't he just sign a one year deal with the Clips, in which case we wouldn't have his bird rights would we?
Not sure where Shump would fit with the Clips once Reddick is back- they also have Crawford at the 2 spot.
Hmmm...

well you are not going to have anyone take fatton on and give us a sure fire hit. Think JR Smith potential but without the attitude and bone headedness. All the potential but as much work to see if he becomes THAT PG for us or not.

assets... but it depends on fit. I would pay Lowry that.. or close to it. I see him in the category of Rondo or Ty Lawson. I think in NY he makes a couple all star games and QBs a wining team. DJ (who is an idiot but DOES watch every Raps game) called him the next Billups. I think thats about right. Bulldog. Great defender.
yellow had a good suggesting... use Shump and fillers for Collison from LA, and route him and a pick for Lowry. I love that. Give my my franchise QB to run this ship, and I set up my backcourt with Lowry/THjr/JR/Prigs
I would jump at that...

rivers has always talked about getting more athetic on the wings and a change of scenery may be good for shumpert..
collison is a no brainer as a starter here..

Shump would thrive on that team with CP3 and Doc Rivers coaching him.

he should... but CP3 is not going to be shooting for shumpert and playing with him is no magic elixir.... I don't think shumperts problem is getting good looks or shots.. but actually making them.. but we will see..

All I know is that Shump will not do anything for the Knicks. He may become a star in LA but here in NY he refuses to become a star or a good player. This guy has been underperforming by choice and that doesn't sit well with me and shouldn't sit well with any fan.

How do you know that? and how can you saye, HE refuses to become a star?
Marc Stein said deals are not happening for the Knicks bc no one will take Felton. Hawks and now Clippers. He even hurts us on his day off.

But I thought the Clips were interested in Beno. Why not just give them Beno then

Doc Rivers would be drooling to get Shumpert after he saw what Shump did to Pierce and Wade in the playoffs.
He has no defensive SG except the guy who stuck up for Griffin in a fight and got suspended.
I realize everyone wants some patchwork or something to happen just because this team is so infuriating, but wouldn't dealing Shump next year w/ Amare, Bargs, Tyson for a more impactful player make more sense?

I don't knock Shump, he's young and he's looking to get paid, just not under the whacked out politics at MSG

He was impressed with that Shumpert did to Boston last year. More than the Knicks were

I say it because I have seen Shump play. I was impressed enough by his play to say he will be a 17-5-5 player. Ever since summer league he has been having a hissy fit. How does he bust out in the new year and go back to being a non factor. There more to Shump and believe it or not he wants off the knicks.
chewy wrote:Marc Stein said deals are not happening for the Knicks bc no one will take Felton. Hawks and now Clippers. He even hurts us on his day off.
That's fine. Just make a deal without Felton. We can get rid of him later on. Point is we get a starting caliber PG for a SG who we will not keep long-term. Felton can possibly excel in a limited role as a combo guard off the bench. We upgrade the position and don't skip a beat at the SG position.
