Knicks · 2015 (page 1)

With 25 teams having essentially more cap space than us. Ny being a destination that looks more and more intolerable as a place va want to go. With teams like Orlando Phoenix etc building with incredible young talent cores. The ny knicks only hope near term is to beg memo to stay and hope 2nd tier players will take higher salaries from the knicks than they'd get elsewhere. Recognize. We are set up for an additional decade of failure. It's being set in motion
holfresh @ 2/22/2014 9:37 AM
Mills did one good thing..We have to stop overpaying in all our deals..Every team tries to extort us because they think we are panicking..Players extort us..You have to draw the line somewhere..
arkrud @ 2/22/2014 10:49 AM
Organization have to recognize the mistakes made over 15 years and redefine itself.
Being in NY does not mean being great by default.
First - Knicks as organization must admit that we suck.
Second - admit that we suck because of inept leadership, nepotism, stupidity, and oversized ego of the owner.
Third - owner should stop interfering in stuff he has no idea about.
Forth - Clean up the house from bureaucrats and money suckers.
Fifth - hire real bbal professional to GM position and bbal operations and let them build the team from the ground up.
Simple as that...
earthmansurfer @ 2/22/2014 10:55 AM
Briggs, I think you hit on something that most are not even considering:

Players around the league are probably now understanding that Dolan/Joffrey is running things, is the true coach, etc. Who wants to play for an owner who is also the coach (and who can't coach) and is an ABSOLUTE control freak? I mean that is what it comes down to. The reason Woody is still here is NOT that he is a good coach, that we've had injuries, etc. It is because he kisses Dolan/Joffrey's azz.
Go a step further, we had Walsh come in and totally turn things around, we were so close, then Melo comes here, seemingly against what Walsh wanted (asset wise) and then Walsh is gone. Mills is brought back and Walsh continues to work his magic.

Who wants to play for this?

Vmart @ 2/22/2014 11:10 AM
I find it laughable 2015. We did this for 2010 and started clearing space almost 2 years ahead of time. While teams like Bulls, Heat and Nets got under the cap on draft day or just before the draft. Besides if I'm a player I would want nothing to do with NY simply because there is way to much media and they shut on you when things go bad. Taxes are high let me tell you guys about NY taxes some say its a drop in the bucket but Jeter if I remember properly was he'll bent on proving his residence is in Florida.

Be smart build through the draft get you top pick tank next year. Make an effort to get the main man to build around and add the FA to compliment. Don't be so vulnerable that it has to be a top FA.

Praise comes to those who make good things happen.

You want to do something then trade Melo. Every other plan is flawed. Like Briggs pointed out
EnySpree @ 2/22/2014 11:22 AM
Btw , have a whole season ahead of the 2015 off season....wtf ate we supposed to do until then? Just keep this same group of losers? Is Melo supposed to sit and wait till he's 31 before we get better?

Who's even available? Love and rondo?

If that's the plan whats the point of even following this team anymore? Love could be a laker, so could rondo. Like Briggs said there are so many teams with Cap space that year that have better situating than us.

Frustrated like a mofo

This. Also not sure why the 2010 plan and to a lesser extent the 2015 plan involved moving young pieces and picks to get to the point where the Knicks could make a move. I disagree with many about the Walsh years. His drafts were really bad. The Knicks could have gone into 2010 with a franchise center and point guard to go along with Gallinari, Lee, and Chandler and a still had the 2012 pick and Jordan Hill. Add one marquee guy to that core and you are so much better than the knicks are now.

2015 is not a plan. See we had 1 winnings season and now its the business model because J dolan said so.

You will never see players like Galo and Lee on same team with Melo (not for long stretch for sure).
Melo can only play on a team with 14 fillers. He is a superhero, especially if everybody around sucks.

smackeddog @ 2/22/2014 12:38 PM
There is no plan for 2015. Dolan simply hopes a big name will take his money. There's no way we can assemble an entire team in one offseason. We have room for one max to put alongside Melo and then we have pretty much no money and no other players (apart from JR and Felton).

Plan and Knicks in the same sentence is a joke. I know 2015 is not a plan. There is no plan Knicks operation is similar to a chicken with its head cut off.

I see no end in sight for this crap- Dolan isn't going to fire himself.
