Looks like the Kings are buying out Jimmer.

The Knicks should pick him up and try him at the point. Because really, why not?

nyk4ever @ 2/25/2014 10:01 AM
that would be great.. give him a shot, why not.
Vmart @ 2/25/2014 10:02 AM
I'm all for this.
EnySpree @ 2/25/2014 10:04 AM
No Brainer. Bobby Brown is still in China and playing in the playoffs so he's not going to be eligible for the nba playoffs. Cut off point is March 1st.

so bring in jimmer!

BigDaddyG @ 2/25/2014 10:12 AM
Why not. He can't be worse that Beno. Plus he can fill in the local guy bench warmer role vacated by Metta.
kingofelpaso @ 2/25/2014 10:12 AM
Seriously, the more I think about this, the more I really like it. I know he's not going to become an All-Star and his defense will be suspect, but still...

He could be a great match with Melo for that kind of inside out game that the Knicks played so well last season. Teams will have to think twice about doubling off Jimmer onto Melo because Jimmer can shoot the lights out. Add Hardaway into the backcourt with Jimmer for a deadly shooting match-up or with Shump for defense.

Not sure how well Jimmer does on the pick and roll, but it can't be much worse than Felton.

SJUknicksfan @ 2/25/2014 10:17 AM
Gotta think there will be a lot of teams looking to sign him for a playoff run. But, he is a Knicks fan so we're probably the favorite if we want him.
VCoug @ 2/25/2014 10:26 AM
I just wonder if he's going to clear waivers so we have a chance. Right now Houston, Orlando, Utah, Phoenix, Milwaukee, and Philly I believe are all far enough under the cap to put in a waiver claim. I could easily see one of them putting in a claim before he hits free agency.

Of course, if he does hit free agency I would love to take a chance on him.

nyk4ever @ 2/25/2014 10:31 AM
we need to find good players. without having draft assets the next few years we need to take chances on young guys (like jimmer) who haven't panned out in their young careers. the guy was a fantastic college player and we know he can shoot lights out. who knows, maybe a change of scenery and a trip back home for him is all he needs to breakout. no risk/high reward.
BRIGGS @ 2/25/2014 10:45 AM
Any move that might makes sense is not a move we will make. It doesnt matter that we need a pro shooter who can also handle PG and happens to come from NY--well pick up Chris Smith. On top of which there is ONLY 1 jimmy with the KNicks!!
SupremeCommander @ 2/25/2014 10:53 AM
I agree Briggs - it makes so much sense it won't happen. In part because the franchise is cursed and in part because Jimmy D and Steve Mills are morons
EnySpree @ 2/25/2014 11:00 AM
Believe in the basketball gods.....Felton legal troubles and jimmer being released? Come on son. That's Devine intervention

If we get Jimmer for free then this is like the basketball gods giving us a 2nd chance for the clusterfuck Dolan and his cronies performed on killing Linsanity.

People are over reacting. Have you guys not been watching this season. There is no reason to get excited or get your hopes up. Jimmer is not coming to NY. No way no how.
knicks1248 @ 2/25/2014 11:12 AM
our biggest issue is leadership, not a scoring pg shooting well below the avg
CrushAlot @ 2/25/2014 11:21 AM
It would be great to grab jimmer. Hopefully he gets a lot of playing time.

who do we have that's better than him?

when he plays his PER numbers suggest he's slightly above average and significantly better than what we have.

I agree that leadership is the biggest issue. problem is we have an infinite amount of issues

Jimmer wouldn't just be to try to improve this dumpster fire of a season. He's a 25 year old with potential that could possibly be signed to a very small deal. He's at least worth giving a shot for the rest of this season.

Finestrg @ 2/25/2014 11:33 AM
Too bad we couldn't have put together something small for Shumpert at the deadline --

Shumpert to the Hawks for some combination of Dennis Schroeder/Mike Scott or Shelvin Mack/Mike Muscala maybe. Something like that. We need help all over..

Hawks view Schroeder as a piece for the future. There's no way they would have traded him for Shumpert.

I agree with you I just don't think there is reason to get excited given the actions of the knicks FO and coach.
