Knicks · What is the strategy of the knicks? (page 1)

Watching the game last night--seeing what they did at the deadline--the two recent signings. My only guess is that even at 17 games under being embarrassed thoroughly by a team that is in a super class above us--our only objective is to somehow by hook or crook hope that Atlanta can lose another 9/10 and we win 5-5 and bid for the 8th seed --oh yeah Clev and Detroit also have to lose. 7th seed is done.

I have little to zero faith in management in the near term the way we are set up to do ANYTHING right.

franco12 @ 2/28/2014 10:06 AM
I understand why management did nothing at the deadline. But truly, they should have been sellers. And they should be in the market to sign Jimmer Fredette since our pg options at this point are really clouded.

Briggs- there's always Brooklyn!

Accumulate as many assets as possible to pull off another starphuck and get the naive portion of the fan base excited
StarksEwing1 @ 2/28/2014 10:07 AM
The Knicks are in dire need of a rebuild. This group just doesnt fit. last Year i did feel we overachived BUT we also had some winning veterans that helped out on and off the court. A rebuild isnt fun BUT i feel it will help longterm IF the Knicks finally do it right

We didn't have many assets but we had the $3 mil to offer in a trade right? I'm surprised we couldn't have used it in a trade to come up with something small but worthwhile. Udrih plus $3 mil might get you a more respectable back-court player or a draft pick. Even a pick around 28 to 40 would be better than just waiving Udrih and getting nothing.

Briggs... for like what? 10? 12 years here we have often discussed a simple concept. Style of play. What kind of team are we building. Is there any thought into putting parts together that compliment, or is it a throw poop at the wall and hope the coach can make a picture with it?

That 54 games we won last year was misleading--this is a culture of losing proven over and over again for 14 years. Until the culture is changed the results will stay the same. Can you imagine G Steinbrenner with this team? It's funny but I sat two seats next to Steinbrenner at a Knicks game in I think it was 1991--I always remember that. I wouldnt even go there now with my kids--its been taken away from me. I root hard for something positive but as a true fan--a real true fan---you feel disgust. And for the guy who talks about last year who works for MSG--shut the fck up and GTFO. Dolan has overseen 14-15 terrible years--patience with Dolan---I dont wish bad things on people but lets hope his recent divorce puts some strain on those tight arteries he must have.

misterearl @ 2/28/2014 10:23 AM
The strategy of the Knicks is to turn a profit on their investment. So far it is working.

JROD? Papabear?

We will hire a new coach next year and squeak in the playoffs. No lottery pick

This team is good enough to just squeak in unless mike Woodson is your coach then u can secure a lottery pick

I won't stand for any playoff. I want a full on tank job next year end of story. Knicks got to the championship twice because if their overall number one pick. It's proven that this plan works.

Cartman718 @ 2/28/2014 10:40 AM
what strategy? they have none.

You give the Knicks too much credit. They have no strategy.

Agreed. For that to happen Woodson needs to stay on the bench

it was and it wasnt... lot of winning players together last year. Old school veterans who didnt need their hand held. Most of all the year started with a true floor general, and when Kidd's play tailed off other guys were able to step and fit into the style of play they created.

Your 100% correct. Dolan is the environment and the reason for 99% of what happens here. All our players regress. All our coaches and front office teams fail. We could do this all day, but this environment takes talent and squashes it. It takes good basketball people and renders them inept.

Its brutal. I feel it too man... only the success of the Yankees and Giants over the last 15 years have kept me from being demoralized. As a Met/Jet fan my heart honestly goes out to you man!

misterearl--. MSG is a diverse money-making mechanism located in the heart of the richest most populated site in the world--If you can show me something that Dolan did to make the team worth more than it should be--please point it out for me. The Knicks/MSG make money because of location location location. Lets get real.

He didn't say that.
All Dolan has to do is make sure the Knicks never actually cost MSG money. He has shareholders to answer to *today*. Most of these are people who don't care about the Knicks or their fans and would love to see the stock price take an immediate jump if Dolan does a starphuck that excites the naive portion of the fan-base. It doesn't matter if 2 years later, it becomes clear that starphuck didn't work. They probably won't even still own shares by then.
