Can't a sign and trade net him more money then just signing with them outright?
Yeah, it can. So you know he'll want to do it.
Rookie wrote:Just saw Afflalo mentioned in a trade rumor with Chicago. Numbers work in a three way trade. Knicks get Afflalo and Boozer. Orlando gets Gibson and Melo goes to Chicago. From there it's anyone's guess what complimentary players and picks exchanged, but the core of a deal is there and works in trade checker
Gross! Why would we want Afflalo if Melo isn't here and what would the Magic do with a 28 year old Gibson. Wouldn't you want tools to help you rebuild?

speaking of boozer I ran into him at the dolphin mall in miami two weeks ago..
I still have a sickening feeling he will end up in Miami.

I left out all the sweeteners for a deal, but basically Orlando moves a player they have been shopping and Chicago has two picks and some good young players to add. I was just showing that the big part of the deal works. No doubt there would be more to it.
It makes since and it doesn't. Afflalo is 28 and they have Oladipo so there is no real reason to keep him on a young team because by the time everyone matures his contract will be up. They also need a 4 so on paper it makes since. However, Gibson is not that young. He turns 29 in two days. So again by the time their cor young players matures he will be32 looking for a new deal and probably itching to play for a contender.
Gibson's age is probably a factor but I doubt he is involved. More than likely they trade their Euro(Mirotic), stretch 4, and one of their picks for Arron and a future pick. Orlando will have cap space next year to pay Mirotic and his is a young piece to add to their growing team at a position of need.

I saw that earlier. Afflalo and Boozer for Melo isn't terrible.
It's really terrible. Afflalo's a nice role player on a good team but isn't a building block on a bad one. And Boozer sucks. Doing this trade doesn't help us now or in the future.

Depends how many first rounders we get back. We'll be able to unload Afflalo before the trade deadline, so I wouldn't call it terrible. Boozer is just a big expiring.
Whatever the Bulls do, they have to keep J.Butler...losing T.Gibson would hurt but J.Butler is a solid player that would help the Melo, Rose and Noah core group.

This is what makes Orlando interesting. Chicago could send it's 2 picks to Orlando for their pick. Would you rather have 16 & 19 or 12?

If my scouting is top notch, give me the two picks. After the 10th pick scouting is gonna be real key as those guys after that are in the same class as the previous group.

I'm getting the feeling that we will also either purchase or trade for a late 1st rd pick

If we're getting 1st rounders back that's different; I thought it was just Boozer and Afflalo.

chicago may be a good fit for carmelo, but for us not the best trading partner...

I disagree. Especially if the knicks can get the deal from the bulls Rookie is suggesting. What trading partner has a better offer?

Why do you think that? And who do you think is better? I think realistically we're looking at Houston and Chicago as the only real S&T candidates. Chicago can offer some package of their two 1st rounders this year plus a pretty big trade chip in Mirotic. Houston has all their 1st rounders but only one this year to offer and they have no players that would really interest us in terms of a rebuild.
We ask for Boozer, Dunlevy, #16 & #19 and that European motherfucker Nikola Mirotic....
Thanks for doing business with you Chicago

Would it be a deal breaker if they offered Gibson instead of Mitotic?

Well that's two power fwds. The Knicks don't even need Boozer so Gibson is overkill.
Chicago would be better off keeping Gibson. They can put him next to Melo and Noah with Butler and Rose and they will be ready for war.
The deal I posted is great for us as is because Boozer and Dunlevy are expiring and we get 3 quality young players. The Knicks could actually still win after this deal. If they can trade Chandler too and get more picks and a usable player we would be back in business Mortimer

Mirotic is a power forward too.
