Knicks · The worst drafting team of the past 20 years is... (page 1)

Well, was there really any doubt? I thought this chart was interesting:
http://www.82games.com/bestdraftingteams...
It's through 2008 but not much has changed.
We haven't drafted one star player in the past 3 decades.

Why am I a knick fan????

Pretty much

What about the last 5-10 years? Cleveland? Twolves?

I think he stopped at 2008 so that there could be a good sample of years played for all players evaluated.

talk about being skewed - yikes

i think the most alarming number isn't that they haven't drafted a star but that so few "solids" were drafted

once a Knick, always a Knick (chiefly because no one wants our crappy draft selections)

Vmart @ 3/5/2014 6:13 PM
We say it all the time. That this team just doesn't get it when it comes to picks. If you look back Isiah actually did well drafting.
holfresh @ 3/5/2014 6:20 PM
Milwaukee and PHX are the best???
VCoug @ 3/5/2014 7:51 PM
And for the bottom of the table New York Knicks? Not a single star among the thirty-two picks made, with David Lee at 19.9 rating pushing the envelope to perhaps become the first one soon. Nene was another good pick for them, taken at #7, but their second round picks with the exception of Ariza have been poor performers, and few players who made much noise whatsoever in the NBA.

Lol, and they're counting Nene as one of our picks even though he was obviously Denver's pick.

knicks1248 @ 3/5/2014 8:04 PM
what does that list prove..only 5 teams. miami san antonio, boston dallas and the lakers have won championship in the last 20 years..

And if this idiot who made this list is going to act like Nene was NY's pick, then he needs to keep in mind that the lakers didn't draft kobe..

jrodmc @ 3/6/2014 11:48 AM
1) if this is so, why are/were there threads whining Channing Frye, Trevor Ariza and Moz?
2) As I've pointed this out ad nauseum for the past 4 years to the "draft picks and cap space" crowd, why is this suddenly so interesting?

yes... we should hope to emulate the success Mil has had and follow that model.

He is. He's just the dark side that we all keep inside during the bleak days

The dark voice that wants to build this team through the draft for once yet the Knicks continue to do the exact opposite. Like trading a 1st and 2nd for frickin Bargnani

The same dark voice that tells you to ignore the thread title? Your dog doesn't talk to you, does he, guns?

the draft isnt the issue, because Knicks mismanage ALL their assets. Younger players already here do not get better and if they do are traded or not resigned. Lin situation was totally screwed up. We could do this all day... Knicks ineptitude isnt limited to their use of the draft.
gunsnewing @ 3/6/2014 12:47 PM
Knicks never committed to building through the draft except for when Isiah traded to draft Lee, frye and Nate. With the Knicks it's always been about adding payroll too squeak in the playoffs and they never did. Until recently only to be right back at square one

That's true. This environment is toxic for young players

mreinman @ 3/6/2014 7:23 PM
I guess we get credit for Nene. But maybe we should get credit for Noah and LA since I am sure that management "would" have drafted them.
