Bulls with Melo and Noah and maybe a healthy D Rose with the rest of their current team
or
Knicks with Melo/T Hard Jr/Tyler and add K Love and K Irving and then fill in with min contact guys
the first is a possibility the second is a pipe dream.

Hell, even if that Knicks team were possible (which it isn't, at the very least Irving will be a RFA and in Cleveland) that Bulls team is still better than us.
Sign me up for Kyrie but it's not happening. I a we Lebron teaming up with him in Cleveland l. Lev rob still lives in Akron
If not Kyrie then Rondo or another big time player.
in other words , is 30 mil extra worth it for Melo to suffer another losing season before we are contenders.

if you max him, how can you afford any of these other guys without having basically the same prob as now: not enough decent players?

We can't. We might be able to sign one of Love and Rondo but we wouldn't have room for anyone else. If Melo really wants to stay here and build a contender then he probably needs to take around $10M less per year in order to build a team around him. Of course, if he's willing to take that much less he should sign with Chicago and not even think twice about it.
