Knicks · Why the Knicks resurgence as of late ? (page 1)

Seems to me every since Mike Woodson admitted publicly that he has “failed somewhat” in getting the Knicks to deal with all of the losing and adversity they have faced this season.

This is when the players begin to play the right way.

So it seems to be as long as Anthony has been here the players choose when to play hard on both ends of the court based on the coach and the players communication.

I'm curious to know what else did Woodson say in the locker room prior to the knicks going on this mini winning streak.

National media finally started criticizing Tyson and calling him out for dogging it. Suddenly he is inspired.

Even Melo has been getting a lot of assist , it's well known in the media when he has 4 or 5 assist in a game the knicks have a higher win %.

Melo and Woodson are the straws that stirs the cup for the Knicks.

We've only one two games, one of which was against the Jazz who are tanking. I hope we do go on an actual win streak, but we may only have won the last two because we changed the starting lineup and teams haven't adjusted their defensive game plans yet.

This is like the 4th "Knicks resurgence" of the season. I'm very hesitant to say its a resurgence rather than just a couple lucky games.

Credit also needs to go to the new starting line up. Adding to scorers to a starting line up that had only one is a huge plus.

I think just putting the pieces where they belong has a lot to do with it.. Pretty upset it took Woodson this long.

Stat being in there has helped everyone in the starting line up. Amare has been beasting it. We're seeing the stat we signed years ago. He's opening up the floor for everyone getting open looks for jr lanes for ray and less double teams on melo. Wide Open dunks for chandler. He also works the hardest and sets a good example for the players.

Rays improved play has to do with having amare and jr on the floor to start instead of prigs and shump. Defenses could really cheat on us with shump and prigs starting. Putting a lot of weight on ray and melo for most of the offense. Now everyone can breath easy with four offensive skilled players and a guy who knows his role in chandler he just needs to throw his pissy attitude out the door.

Also shump is going to flourish in The second unit now he can be more a factor on offense and be the animal we all know he is. Same with prigs coming off the bench where he belongs setting up the kids in the second unit.

Hate to say it like this but woodys miss use of amare since he's been coach reminds me of jvg and his miss use of Camby in the 1999 season. Both of them finally figuring it out the last 20 games of the season that they need to be on the floor their too good.
NYKBocker @ 3/8/2014 2:48 PM
This is funny, but I guess you suck this much then any positive is a resurgence.

In Woodson's defense he was told at the beginning of the year to play KMart and Amare every other game and I believe that they both had a minutes restriction of 10 minutes.

IMHO the winning has nothing to do with Woodson proclaiming he has failed the team - which he has.

I think it's the players realizing they have been dogging it all season and now that the playoffs are close they don't want to be sitting at home when the regular season ends. Most of us realize this team has enough talent to win games and they have underachieved all season.

To me it's about the little amount of pride these players still have - I don't think it has anything to do with Woodson.

It's too late.

The bottom line is that Woody realized the season is on the line and he has decided to play Amare as much as he can. This has given us a legitimate second option to take pressure off of Melo so that he can actually have some energy to finish games for us. If Amare's knees can hold up for the final 19 games, the Knicks should be able to squeeze into the playoffs. Det, Clev, and Atlanta are playing sub-.500 ball right now. We just need to win the easy games we have over the next two weeks and go .500 for the last 6 games (which are all against solid teams).

And people wondered why I called him Jeff Vandummy.

It's both Woody and the players , because we have no real GM evaluating the players like he should.

Players didn't like Woody's favoritism when players were unprofessional and not playing the right way, so they rebelled and didn't put forth the effort on both ends of the court .

Pretty big stage to be playing favorites, this isn't Atlanta.

If the knicks beat Cleveland convincingly then this team is on the same page, and looking to do a little damage.

Mills met with Jackson a couple of weeks ago --- I think word got out about that and now guys may simply be energized by the thought of Phil coming or they are scared that Phil will come & they'll be gone out the door if they don't wake up now.

A 2 game win streak against some garbage teams is "resurgence"?

lol all it takes is 1 tough loss, one dumb late game coaching blunder and their heads will go back in the gutter
