really put off by general media reaction all week - stupid idea, he'd be a fool, another blunder by Knicks, etc.
Dolan is trying - once again, apparently putting up huge money to bring in a savoir. He gave Larry B full control, did for a bit with Walsh, rightly or wrongly, agrees to fund the ambitious Big Three of Melo, AMare, Tyson - didnt work out, not Dolan's fault. Now, he's trying again with one of the biggest names in the sport.
Dolan bashing is easy, and cheap way to sell tabloids, but, in reality, knocking him for this move is unfair.
What if Phil Jackson is able to convince Melo to stay and surround him with the talent needed to run the triangle ONLY if he took less money in 2015
I think this is a win win situation and Melo must understand he needs much more than JR Smith, STAT, Felton, and Tim Hardaway JR as the supporting cast
While I don't think Melo is a DOMINANT piece to run the triangle, I think if he was surrounded with 1-2 STARs he could be very successful in it
Melo must embrace his ability to be a MID POST shooter, similar to how Jordan perfected it to be a great efficient player
The triangle isn't about making the ALL STAR's play better, it is about putting the role players in a system to be highly productive, and making it easier for EVERYONE else on the floor
If run successfully with the right pieces, it requires opponents defense to pick and choose what they would give up as an option
In the end, I think we would need at least a STAR like Aldridge/Kevin Love, to make it work with Melo, and some solid role players to come play and staying at a discount

No way Stat is taking a discount especially since this is his last real contract.
Why don't you care what Melo's salary is after 2015? We need the cap room / flexibility that summer? Unless you plan on doing the full rebuild for next year which would practically be impossible.

I would like to see Aldrich but I am sure that Woody will misuse him and then bench him for the rest of the season base on this one performance. Tyler is a nice player but certainly not gaga over him like some on here.
Melo will take lots of bad shots tonight based on (his view of) the lineup. I would love to see him have 3+ assists in the second half. He usually gets most of his assists in the first half.

I don't think it has anything to do with brains. JVG said recently that he sees the floor really well and is a really good passes "WHEN HE WANTS TO PASS".
I think someone like Jackson has to convince him to change. He could not convince Kobe but I think Melo is far easier to deal with.
