Supposedly Phil does not want to keep Mills but Dolan is insisting he is kept and Dolan will overpay Phil to ensure that mills is kept.
Anyone else think this might lead to Larry brown like problems down the road where Phil will have an easy scapegoat if mills is involved in any basketball decisions? If you are bringing in Phil and pYing him all that money isn't it better to do it right and give him what he wants?
Also is Melo ok with this move after Phil criticized him for the ball sticking?
who would rather have phil or melo

Phil
+Melo only at the right price
Dolan is loyal but he needs to move/reassign mills. Phil is right to demand this in my opinion. Give mills the same job lawerence frank has for the nets.

Dolan will overpay Phil instead of giving him a percentage of the franchise. Everything else is rumor. Phil will need staff. If they put Mills in a role he is better suited for, then what's the hang? Isn't Mills supposedly a sabermetrics guy now? Everybody needs to simmer down. Let's see what actually happens instead of buying to much into what the media is reporting as 'sources'.
Warkentein and Gabriel, not that Mills was slated for the basketball end. Mills is the finanace guy, the operations guy. Mills will be "president" and PHil will be all things basketball.
Its easy.
Kobe and PHil kissed and made up after he dissed him in the book. Thing is, Phil was not wrong. Does Melo think he might be a ball hog at times? THink Melo does not recognize some of his own short comings? Of course he does.
If Melo is a bytch and is "Offended" or "not respected" for that then he should leave. I doubt that.
It will be curious to see if Dolan's alleged mole, Herb Williams, survives another coaching change.

Where do you get this from? Where is the beef between phil and Mills? Do you understand Mills skill set does not overlap with Phil's?

I think he was actually built into the garden floor with the latest renovation

Herb is the Teflon Don
If they clean house then it's time for him to go. He has been here forever and we have basically sucked the whole time so I am not sure what he offers the team. Plus if Phil wants to bring his own guys in plus a coach with their own staff, why force personnel on him?
as long as mills isn't involved with basketball, i don't care if he's here or not.

Yea that's my issue. No one should be forced on Phil. No reason to give him any excuses to fall back on if he fails
If Phil wants to use Mills analytics(which I'm very skeptical of) to evaluate and scout players then great
If Mills is only running the business side of things then even better
So much for Mills being a better recruiter than Grundwald. That didn't last very long lol

I think they should show Mills the door. I have no clue why he was brought back here after his first disastrous stint with the Knicks. I don't care of he discovered analytics either - all the data in the world won't help you if you don't understand it.

Phil probably wants to bring in his own people. If he can't bring in his own people, then he's not really in charge and hiring him is a waste of money and everyone's time, but will make for some good headlines.

Yea the conspiracies on the Knicks continue while posters try and bait me on conspiracies theories.
There is no reason why Mills and Herb Williams still had some sort of position with the NY Knicks.
They have a position because owner James Dolan (Mr Integrity) likes and uses him for his own spying or dirty laundry alliance.
FROM YAHOO SPORTS : Mills was president of Madison Square Garden from 2003 to 2008, a period in which the Knicks were in disarray on and off the court. It was Mills who recommended that Isiah Thomas be hired as the Knicks’ president in December 2003.
The move came to haunt Mills when another team executive, Anucha Browne Sanders, sued Thomas and the Garden in January 2006 for sexual harassment. Browne Sanders, who had been hired by Mills, was awarded $11.6 million in punitive damages by a jury in October 2007. (The case was later settled for $11.5 million.)
The decision is superficially peculiar. The years in which Mills oversaw MSG were fairly despicable ones for the Knicks, with Thomas guiding the team to horrendous seasons on the court and ignominy off it. Any decision that reminds people of that era would seem to be a bad one for the Knicks, an organization just now returning to prominence in the Eastern Conference. Grunwald appeared to be doing a fairly good job assembling a coherent and effective roster, but it's unclear how political concerns factor into the situation.
playa not to bait but do you think that the Malaysian airline was/is a conspiracy?

I am going by what Guns said when he started the thread. I usually read the thread before responding.

Sorry SAS opened his show saying he spoke to his Knicks sources and that was the latest and the hold up was Mills involvement. Phil doesn't want him but Dolan offered more money. That's what he intimated at least
This is why I'm concerned. It's the same crap all over again with Dolan and throwing money at a big name gm

Seriously never looked into that one.
