I did for the players involved but not the picks.
I thought the 1st rd pick was too much but posted that Novak and Camby could get Bargs way before it happen. I also kept an open mind about the possibility of it working but now I see why he is not a good player.
What really sucks is that the second rd picks given up could have got Spencer Hawes. lol. I would have taken Hawes before Bargs anyway. Especially since he can do all the other things better than Bargs. It's not like Hawes is an all world player but he is a better player than Bargs and a big that actually stretches the floor.
hated the first rounder, was ok with the 2nd rounder and the players. On paper it made sense, we got bigger and added a big who could stretch the D. The guys we gave up werent great fits or doing anything and Bargs was once pretty solid before he got hurt. Obviously it didnt work out.
Is what it is
A) we shouldnt have given Camby that contract in the first place with his medical history and age
B) we shouldnt have outbid ourselves for Novak
C) given that we did, i'd rather have Novak than Bargs, nevermind loses picks for a soon to be amnestied player
Classic Knicks clusterfck
so when you guys say that you were not happy or hated to give up the first rounder, does that mean you were against the trade or just reluctantly for it?
I'm voting yes- but like others, thought the first rounder was too much to give up, no matter the potential upgrade on paper.
I thought Bargs started to play better- I'd like to think a different coach would have gotten him to fit better- I mean, it was clear he didn't work with Chandler, yet Woody kept trying it.
I had hoped he would be healthy - but where the F is he? At least he got hurt driving the ball to the hoop, and not settling for a jumper - have to give him that.
it made zero sense. Bargs is what is he which is an inconsistent scorer. I mean the Raptors had a tough time trading him even for another bad contract and as the Knick usually do they gave up multiple picks. I don't care if Denver had the right to swap. I mean Hardaway JR was a late round pick in a bad draft class and he still is more valuable than Bargs
Most people hated it- it reminded everyone of the kind of trade IT would do. Tried to seek solace in the cap clearing for 2015, but we only just signed those guys a season earlier so why the fuck sign them to cap clogging contracts if the plan is to free up cap space for that year?!
I really don't like Bargs- fair or not I associate him with all of this teams woes- lazy, coasting, low bball iq, no help defense, poor shooter etc. I hoped he'd be better than Novak- he hasn't even managed that. The trade will go down as one of the many stinkers we've made- the Knicks and Denver could both stink in 2016, so it will probably end up being a good pick.
We draft like sheehit, look it up, it's easy to do. So the first rounder didn't bother me all that much. Unless of course I kept thinking Steve Mills was suddenly going to become a genius with IT whispering sweet nothings in his ears.
I was a little sad to see Novakaine go, but I was also almost equally tired of his one-trick pony act. Camby and QRich who?
I bought into the dreamscape of a 7 footer with the mad handle spreading the floor and making Fat Hibbert look silly. Someone for Melo to pass to without second and third thoughts! Bargs was going to be healthy, happy and reborn in the big city! And he was playing good D on some premier bigs! Bonus! Alas, it was not to be.
Oh well. I truly don't worry about Droolan's money, either.

Agreed. Nothing against Bargs but it was a pointless move

We draft okay- under this cba you have to keep your picks because of their cheap contracts.
Novak may be a one trick pony, but alas, Bargs is a no trick pony- what the heck does he do great that makes up for his many short comings?

Define "okay", and use examples over the past 29 years.
If you're point is a comparison to Novak, I don't think Bargs needs to do anything great:
Bargs doesn't get into meaningless pissfights with Nate Robinson.
He plays D against the likes of DHoward.
He can actually dribble and get his own shot without 4 screens.
He can dunk.
Thats four.
Next: Why Bargs on the IR is worth more than Camby and QRich on the bench.
it was a buy low... Dont think anyone realized how low

So you are actually ok with giving up the 1st rounder? Why? Because we are bad drafters?

Why 29 years?! That's ridiculous- you compare one regime or one set of scouts picks, not lumping together 29 years worth of personnel!
So Bargs can play okay man on man defense against one player we play twice a year and he can dunk (when he isn't breaking his elbow for a year in the process)- slim pickings!
I remember saying we should be the ones getting picks in this deal - that's how bad it was.

Bah! You and your analytics were right again!
Was totally against this trade giving up a pick was to much since rumors were already floating that Toronto was found to buyout Bargs or waive him.
great trade...for toronto. surprised at how badly bargs flopped in ny.

Why 29 years, hmmmm, does the year 1985 mean anything to you?
So, you have no examples. Check. Google is your friend. Have fun.
And Bargs played D against Hibbert too, remember? You'd prefer watching Novak get torched by...anyone?
And Novak can do...what, again, exactly?
I did because I thought the first was worth Bargs, and the 2nds would be negligible. Now I'd trade Bargs for one second. Go figure
