Nope. I'm still in LA. But the other Phil is finally home.

blast from the past. how ya doin man?

I gotta admit Phil made me a believer. Talk about footwork, fundamentals and teamwork will get me every time. Dolan saying he is giving decision power to Phil was the icing on the cake.

yea.. real hoops talk. So refreshing. It was the one thing I liked about Walsh and MDA. They spoke. Now we have 10x better. I have high expecations backed by a huge willingness for patience. Will be nice to not snit over every move and just let him build the thing

It will be impossible not to respect Phil. I think that Dolan wasn't as respectful of Walsh n MDA cuz they hadn't won a title. Dolan can't say anything to Phil in this regard and that's why I like this hire.

Does this mean dj is coming back too?

One thing is be worried about is forcing the issue with an underwhelming FA class in 2015. Last time we did that we settled for Amare. I rather be patient and wait til 2016. Much better championship caliber players

The media keeps raving about the 2015 class. I hope Phil is wise and trusts his own judgement. I don't think Phil go for bandaids. He's too smart

I think it's more likely to go after younger talent with potential.

Phil on the Kay show now. Thinks Don Nelson brought screen and rolls to the game in the 90s. Seems to be suggesting he prefers ball and player movement

Mike Woodson is history

gunsnewing @ 3/18/2014 3:41 PM
James Dolan. Gonna be on Kay show at 4pm. They were told all questions are a go. Tune in!
sealy @ 3/18/2014 3:44 PM
Thanks for all the entertaining updates for those of us who can't tune in.

Many ppl feel this will end badly as Dolan will eventually interfere. But Imo Phil Jackson's best ability is to manage egos. Isiah Thomas was given a ton of freedom to do as he pleased with the Knicks his moves didn't result in success. If Jackson has success then I don't see Dolan interfering.

It works because Jackson isn't a build through the draft type of guy and Dolan isn't a build through the draft type of guy. They both want big name guys on the team. Difference is Jackson can actually make it work and get the big names to fall in line.

re-listened to the press conference and Phil came off as very presidential. He reminds me a bit of Bill Clinton they way he connects with people.

I am a bit nervous about how labored he looks and if he can remain healthy.

That depends on what the meaning of 'if' is.

Dolan spoke first, reading from a sheet of paper as he welcomed back Jackson, who won two championships with the Knicks in the 1970s. He awkwardly joked that Jackson would let him play if the team were ahead by more than 30 points. At one point, he laughed and dropped the line “if this doesn’t go well” when he was talking about their new partnership. Which was not exactly funny, considering things haven’t gone well for the Knicks basically since Dolan took over 15 years ago. - NYTimes
