Really worth the read.
Yeah, PER is mostly a measure of usage rate, or how often you have the ball in your hands. Other factors affect it a little but not as much.

Do you agree with the writer?

Which of his points? It seemed like he mostly sided with the criticism of PER, which I would agree with. I wouldn't call PER useless but there are much better stats available. Using PER is kind of like using a map to do an 8 hour trip when nowadays you can just type the address into the GPS.
It seems like Carmelo was still near the top of most of those lists. Inefficient chucker or no.
It seems those rebounds and steals will kill a good hate everytime...

Right, the issue is whether it's meaningful to be on the top of that list
it isn't. not a fan of the PER since as you have stated and the article warns that volume shooting inflates the measure.

Yeah, I deleted it after thinking about how improbable a worthwhile discussion was but you were too fast!

Right, but as usual, neither of you even read the other lists. Because they just might shed some light on the cancer of the franchise.
Of course, you can now both agree that Baron Davis is a more valuable player than Melo, because he's on a list that Melo doesn't even appear on. Hopefully he makes his comeback and we can keep Stat, PDiddy and get CP3 and we'll be all set.
