He added: “They’re going to come in, and they’re going to tell me what they want to do. They’re going to tell me how much it costs, and I’m going to say yes — assuming it doesn’t bankrupt the company. I don’t think they’ll come in with a bankrupt-the-company scenario, but I’ve told them that I’m willing to spend. We need a championship here.”
We have all slung poop at Dolan, and myself I have used to bazooka to launch it, but the bottom line is he has now done what every fan has begged for.
Thank you sir
This post seems appropiate here:
Dolan may be an awkward public speaker, a man that doesn't choose his words wisely and a basketball fan that knows nothing about basketball. He really wants to win, though, and while that may habe put him in a position to do lots of harm to this franchise, it also made him realise he wasn't made for a decision-making position, and he had the courage to accept it, in front of NY's media nontheless, and "willingly and gratefully" give up his power to a basketball genius that does have a plan.
Dolan has done harm to this franchise, there is no denying. But after a very revealing day, it can be said in his defense that he has tried. His previous "try" damaged us, but he now has signed a man that could potentially build something that we haven't had in 40 years, and it only happened because after a surprisingly disappointing season, he kept trying.
It remains to be seen if he will keep his word on trusting Phil Jackson with the keys to the gym, but, at the risk of being too naive, Dolan does look like a man that has been relieved of a huge and unwanted burden. He seems liberated to have somebody that could take the pressure off from making basketball decisions he had no idea about. Maybe this was his plan with Isiah Thomas, a plan he knew very well could never come true. But in his mind, he needed a "basketball genius" to take the wheel, and he needed to crash and burn on his own attemp with this season's team to realise he had to give up the power and simply become a spectator who also writes the checks.
Too much negativity has been talked about Dolan and much is true, but the man is persistent and this time, it may finally pay off in trully and fully reviving our dormant franchise.
Darth Vader?
More like "Dark Helmet"!

But as dumb as he has been he gets kudo's for
1. Rehiring Steve Mills
2. Hiring McKinsey to evaluate MSG
And if those things worked to allow a process to accept the concept of delegation then he gets huge props for that.
Nobody was hated worse than Steinbrenner and not until he got suspended and was forced to rely on Stick Michaels did the Yankees start turning it around
Dolan can do it to
Very interesting developments. Also MSG partnership with Irving Azoff last year who helped the Phil matchmaking, prob made JD realize he was much more interested and suited in that part of the business, rather than the basketball side.
The man is a dummy, but we've never seen a cost-cutting move at the expense of the team. A few steps back (ok, a restraining order) and the man is an asset to have with the franchise.

Dolan's realization on CAA:
"I'm surrounded by Assh0les!"
Does this come with subtitles, fish?

Listened to the whole interview on WFAN with Francessa. Jimmie sounded not quite as awkward as everyone makes him out to be, and he said all the right things, and he never sounded like he was reading off a teleprompter or, in his case, a kareoke machine... although I kept envisioning him staring down at his phone, checking to see if Phil was feeding him lines...
Wouldn't bash Walsh, wouldn't bash Grunwald. Crap, he didn't even say anything remotely nice about IT...
Fatincessant kept pointing out, ad nauseum, that Jimmie's never bothered that Glen Sater guy with the Rangers. I guess that's a good thing.
"No, Phil, I'm not your Daddy!"

So let me get this straight. EMMA likes to touch low and this is an issue. Maria is trying to change the process of "Risqué for work"? Got it!

hahhaa...EMMA needs to get in the truck...update her product and get her touches up
Good thread, good times coming. Now, I am willing to be patient....it's a confidence thing. I am confident my patience will finally be rewarded with good basketball based on tried and true basketball foundational concepts and implemented by a man with vision and a plan. From everything I've heard so far, Phil is the man with the big picture and eye on the details. I respect Dolan for recognizing it and soing what it took to get him here. I am sure prying him away from the Buss family was no easy task.
and on a lighter note - NBA investigates Phil Jackson (Knicks) and Jeanie Buss (Lakers) for conflict of interest This deserves a big WTF!! http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2...
looks like smoke...but any dealings with the Lakers at this point would invite scutiny from the league

AHAHAHAHAaa.. thanks, I needed that badly
Fair enough--Dolan admitted himself--he shouldnt be a part in basketball decisions. He got bamboozled for almost 10 years by IT finally enough is enough--no problem with a sound decision.
Felt like I was watching a latter day Louie DiPalma sitting next to Jackson. Maybe Dolan wises up, becomes the invisible owner, and lets Jackson transform the franchise into one of the best run teams in the league. Wlil be interesting to see how Mills and Jackson get along. Maybe they will ease him out gracefully.
I'm glad that Dolan admitted that he knows nothing about hoops, it will make it hard to interfere with Jackson and his 11 rings. Allan Houston looks like the odd man out here. Was too close to Dolan anyway.
I can't wait for Big Chief Triangles first move. Hopefully its to fire Woody and hire his coach.

Woody historically struggles intigrating offseason acquisitions into the offense. Even going back to Atlanta. He really has absolutely no imagination. This is the reason he will be politely let go by Phil
Yea maybe he can try to learn the triangle but it won't help him in figuring out who to play not will it improve his late game management and in game adjustments
I don't feel like giving him 60 games again to figure it out next year
