Knicks · Shannon Brown signed for rest of season, Earl Clark not so much (page 1)

Phil's first move has been made- we've re-signed Shannon Brown for the rest of the season, and surprisingly not done the same for Earl Clark. Wonder if we get a young player in with that last roster spot. I thought Earl played okay for us, but in the recent afternoon game I noticed he looked half asleep during the game, and kept yawning on the bench, so maybe it's an effort thing.

Thats wierd. Shannon Brown has done nothing. Maybe he is Phils Herb.

Neither player were any good imo but Brown knows the triangle so he could be in future plans.

Regardless, Earl Clark was a perfect compliment to Melo. He deserved a closer look.

Shannon Brown looks as good as Shumpert has been for us this season IMHO.

Side note: I wonder if Tour'e value has been raised by the Phil move?

What value ?

His handle looks like it needs a lot of work. He is still kind of intriguing.

Always thought E.Clark had potential to be a good off the bench player. Showed flashes of it in L.A. Maybe something else is going on that we don't know about?

Phil likes big PGs

Yeah. He plays tough D and the triangle requires less dribbling. Ron Haper-ish?

Fire Phil!

Another Shawne Williams, borderline D-league/NBA player

Phil Jackson coached Shannon Brown on the '09 Lakers Championship team.

It all comes down to fit with those guys. That isn't to say they can't be impactful because Shawne Williams played a big enough role for us, back in the day.

I'd say more Javaris Crittenton-ish, lol.

I think that Toure has been a big let-down this season. He seems so hesitant and turnover prone recently. He needs to gain confidence and I don't think that New York is the place for that to happen.

I just think that Jackson is unfamiliar with him, so why pay three to four times Earl Clark's value in luxury tax. It's a shame though because like you and I say, the guy has got real talent and skill. Plus, he even improved his ball-handling ability, which made him a threat on penetrations. I think Phil made a mistake on this one but I suppose it is one we could live with. There is always Josh Smith on the horizon (lol).....

You don't need a great handle in the Triangle. Name the PJax PG's who were known for their handle and breakdown ability?

Besides it's already been reported that Phil has been watching the KNicks games since Tyson got hurt and he likes the following players.

Phil Jackson saw the Knicks in person for the first time on Wednesday night. But he's been watching the team from afar for several months.

Jackson revealed during his introductory press conference that he's been watching the team since Tyson Chandler went down with a leg fracture in early November.

A source with knowledge of Jackson's thinking said he was impressed with the play of Carmelo Anthony, Chandler, Iman Shumpert, Cole Aldrich, Tim Hardaway Jr. and Toure' Murry.

As for Clark he's more of a MDA type player. I think his skill set isn't quite what Phil would be looking for. Tyler and Cole are much closer to what he'd be looking for. Clark isn't a post player and he's also not quite an Odom type either.

You know who is an Odom type player? Josh Smith, lol.

who knows, maybe carmelo isn't in the long term plans either... maybe we should be hoping that earl clark was the perfect compliment to the "knicks"

I think Phil would like to re-sign Melo, but wouldn't be devastated if he couldn't- I think he's fine with it either way.
