I'm just curious because those guys would be perfect fits next to Melo and in the triangle. Gallo and Wilson can defend either forward spot, which allows us to interchange them with Melo, advantageously. They both are also excellent perimeter shooters, which offers better floor spacing. In the case of Gallo, he is also a pretty good passer so I think he could help a great deal with ball movement. Meanwhile, Mozgov has matured into a pretty good NBA center and could help bide time when Tyson becomes flu-Tyson. Best of all, the franchise could shut a segment of the anti-Melo crowd up.
The downside? Both Gallo and Wilson are extremely injury-prone. Before this season, I think Wilson only played in approximately 50% of his games with the Nuggets, while Gallo is slated to miss a year and a half worth of basketball. Also, those guys are all under contract for 2015, so expect there to be about $10-$15 million that we can't spend on free agents. In spite of that, we still would likely have room to offer a max contract to one free agent so I suppose it isn't all doom and gloom. I was thinking that something like this would work:

Gallo in the triange could be interesting.
If we can get Gallo and wilson to play with Melo and end arguemnts Im for that!
Lets bring back MDA to run the triangle while we at it! Homecoming continues!

It saves the marketing department a TON of money as well because then they could just simply replay the "Coming Home" commercial next year. Its good basketball AND fiscally sound. What's not to like?
No one misses those guys more than me... But they are gone and they have a good thing going in Denver.. Gallo will be back to start the season, chandler should be completely healthy, and they will get a lottery pick.. either theirs or ours, but they are guaranteed one... they are in good shape and I can enjoy watching gallo and chandler on that team..
No need to bring them back here as I think we should blow this mess up and start over.. that includes getting rid of everyone including carmelo, especially him!! start new, new philosophy, players, atmosphere...
no need in keeping this current mess and no need going backwards, plus I am not sure why denver would deal with us anyway..

Now I certainly would like this better than Josh Smith (your last idea)
But you hit it on the head. Though Gallo is an extremely efficient player, he has not shown that he can stay on the court.
I like Wilson too but also way too many injuries.
Gallo may never be the same player again after his ACL tear followed by botched treatment by the Denver Doc's. I like Wilson, but he's a bench player really (if I'm being honest with myself), and he is very injury prone and inconsistent.

True. I just think that either guy is better than what we'd be giving up and even if their injury prone trends continue, you're still likely to get a combined 82 games from the two. Plus, Mozgov gives us some insurance if Tyson goes down, which makes him worth his weight in gold at just $3 million/yr.
Ask yourself this, could we even sniff the opportunity to get those guys back if they were healthy? There is definitely some risk involved but I think that Gallo's age and the handful of years left on his contract, makes the deal worth it.
How would we get Gallo???
Give me Mozgov.
Who is Gallo?
Who is Wilson?

Not sure what their good thing going is. They have already lost 37 games this year after winning 57 just a year ago. They lost their coach, gm, and and one of their best players after last season. Gallo's situation with his surgeries is pretty messed up. Not sure that he will ever be what he was and if he is it will take awhile. Right now he is projected to be back for training camp.
"It's really not about coach, player," Miller said. "It's really about communication from the top. In a team meeting we talked about communication between the coaches and the players. Anybody can coach, but how do you deal with players and egos and attitudes and communicate with people – that's the main thing."I communicated on my end. There was no communication on their end."

why are we going to get injury prone wing players when we need PGs and PFs?
Silverfuel wrote:why are we going to get injury prone wing players when we need PGs and PFs?
Gallo is 6"11', 230lbs. How much more of a power forward do you need? Really, what this team needs is an upgrade in talent at every position, which I think this deal helps to provide (if they are healthy).

Gallo has missed over 40 % of the games he has been eligible to play in since coming into the league. He is coming off what will be about 20 months away from basketball and may not be the same player after his latest injury. I believe he makes 10 mil next year. I think you move on and hope for his sake that he recovers and doesn't have to endure anymore botched surgeries.

Next Year
Gallo makes $10.8
Chandler makes $6.75
Moz makes $4.65
A healthy Gallo would be worth it, but there is risk right now due to his knee....until he proves it is sound. Chandler/Moz come at too high a price IMO.

I didn't say that there wouldn't be risk involved. We wouldn't be able to deal for those guys if their injury history were impeccable. Obviously, we'd have to do our homework on them and then make a decision on whether the risk can be mitigated. Guys like Grant Hill has missed multiple seasons amd have come back, so I wouldn't write Gallo or Chandler off just yet.

I think they all, aside from Mozgov, are paid above their market value but salaries are irrelevant to big franchises like ours. They would cut into our 2015 cap space (leaving us with only $12 million to work with) but how likely are we to net a "big fish" worthy of the max? If our only risk involves an extra year of salary, I'd take it (if we intend on keeping Melo).

We even think about bringing those two IR queens back and Melo will definitely walk.
Moz and Cole and Stat starting for your New York Knicks!
And with Denver's 1st round pick, the New York Knicks choose....Derrick Coleman, Jr.!
Bring back the Knuggets...Mozzi, Gallo, The Mayor even Anthony Randolph. Then bring back the Linsanity crew..Lin, Novak, Fields, Billy Walker...can we get Fishlips to get out of retirement?
Then life would be good.
