That would be the most inefficient back court in the history of the NBA. Do you really think that Phil is that dumb?
Shumpert has been an inefficient offensive player since college. I don't see it improving. He is a really good defender but can that mask his inefficiency so that he can be a long term positive sum player? I don't think so but I am curious to see what Phil thinks.
I doubt it can match the inefficiency of Felton and Shump which we've seen this year.
gunsnewing wrote:Fair enough. You think Phil would want Lowry? Don't think we have the players or cap room to bring him in
I hope but I think the price keeps going up. I wish we got him for the first rounder and shump or even THJ when we could have but the one trade that we should have made, we didn't. go figure.
However, maybe Jax was already in the mix and put the nix on the trade, I don't know. He may want to build his own team and did not want to take away his flexibility before he got in here.
I still think that Lowry may be on the table but I think that it may cost us a lot more to get him.

I don't think it is possible because it would have to be a sign and trade and the Knicks can not receive players in a S&T because they are over the cap/tax.
I see Phil looking at end of bench players, overseas, and 4 yr UFAs to fill the pg.

Unless we give up salary but you are probably right. No way toronto wants our sh1t. We really screwed this one up.
Yea some know name non star on the cheap
Phoenix goes for Dragic and we go for Bargs. Classic tale of two teams!
gunsnewing wrote:It's like saying Jeremy Lin is a net negative player because he doesn't shoot 40% from 3. You guys are nose-diving too far into the numbers and not taking impact into account
Lin's 3 point shooting does hurt his game but he's good enough elsewhere to mostly make up for it. Lin's hitting 34% of his 3s and 51% of his 2s this year (career-wise, it's 34 and 49). Evans is at .459 from 2 and .221 from 3. If you're a guard who can't hit 3s, you can't ALSO be below average at 2s and a bad defender. As if that wasn't bad enough, he's paid 8 figures annually through 2017! They'd have to give me like 6 first round draft picks to take him at that salary
gunsnewing wrote:Well you would hope that his efficieny numbers improve as he gets older. It's not like the Knicks would be looking to max him out
SAC already did that for us!

I think the better comparison is Eric Bledsoe. Dragic was a FA get and he had ties in PHX. I think Houston should have tried harder to keep him but anyway. There are not any FA star level pgs that will be available for the next 3 years unless Dragic opt out.
Anyone know when FA starts and if players can be traded before the draft if they are a FA that summer?

Bledsoe having a good year but I am not crazy over him.
I say try Patty Mills and Mario Chalmers but both will get more than what NY can offer. Maybe Mills can be had for the mmle.

I would take a shot at Mills. I think that he has a nice upside.
I like Chalmers too but for cheap. He does seem like a Jax system guy though.
If I was NO--I wouldnt even trade him. I think AD is a top 3 NBA player and the way they are playing now--they need to keep TE at PG. I would be willing to trade Holiday and Gordon.

I don't see how/why NO would want to keep him at that price.
If I were them, I would be looking for a dumb team like the knicks (pre jax) to dump him on.

Yeah, you have to understand a few concepts:
A) It's important to sell high
B) You can't ignore the bigger sample for a more preferable small one (career record vs. pas couple of weeks)
C) Recent data are worth more but only a little more than old data

Yeah. Was just looking at his stats for his last 12 games. Pretty solid.
Rare to see an inefficient player play well for 12 straight games. Its like he had an epiphany. Curious to see how he ends off the season - I will be watching him since this seems like such an anomaly.

Its working for them right now--they are winning and if you have watched TE and AD play very well together. IF I was NO I would trade off Andersen Gordon and Holiday--look for one more star and great roll players with that $$$. They over did it last year--they shouldve NOT traded for Holiday. They COULDVE gotten a KINGS ransom for Andersen at one point--now????

It's much rarer for a 12 game sample to predict the future better than a sample of several years though.

I would not take the chance on him from 12 games but I am still curious to see if he sustains this play to close out the season. If he does, his stock will be high.
Looking at the game logs and seeing where this streak started and the drastic jumps, I find this very strange. Its like a a coach saw something that he was doing wrong and it clicked. Rare but interesting.
I like Patty Mills to as a 6-8 rotation type of Steve Kerr guy.
What I would like to see is
one max contract trade IF it makes sense like a Tyreke
one MLE for a Patty Mills
2-3 draft picks in the 2nd round or undrafted(Id love to get a 1 but it isnt happening) lets say Kane and Bachynski
Trade for a high quality PF OR trade into the draft in round 1 for a Gordon Payne type. That would cost us Chandler.
