Knicks · Would like to see Clyde as interim Coach (page 1)

Rookie @ 3/26/2014 11:17 AM
he could just be the positive voice in locker room this team needs to end the season on a positive. His attention to detail and the fundamentals focus on how to play the game the right way are something we need to motivate the players to give maximum effort. Woodson's voice is clearly an irritation at this point, and since a big part of the game is mental and preparation, I demand a change now. Clyde is an MSG employee and already traveling with the team. He has been an observer over the years, knows what they are doing and what they are doing wrong. At this point in the season, they don't need an overhaul, just someone to help them focus on the details and be a positive inspiring voice.

on a side note, I really wonder what D'antoni said to Rambis on the bench that had Rambis practically in tears with laughter. I think it was something like - Looks over at Woodson "That could have been me if I hadn't left"

Can Clyde be our announcer coach? I would really still want to hear his color.
Rookie @ 3/26/2014 11:46 AM
maybe he can do both...and play PG. Seriously though, there's just to much basketball knowledge sitting behind the announcer table. I would really like to see him involved with the team on the bench in some fashion. Could you just imagine him on the bench with his wardrobe...that right there is worth the price of admission

NO NO NO

No upside. Massive downside.

Let these guys sleepwalk through the rest of the year. They have earned it. Woody especially.

The only coaching change I would welcome would be firing Woody and letting Herb finish while playing some young guys starter minutes.

If it's audition time, Clyde should get the gig. There is no one else out there that bleeds orange and blue like Clyde. Since he has no previous coaching experience, the timing seems right to see what he's got.

This would never happen, and Clyde doesn't want to be a coach, he said so himself. Also he's under contract to do the tv commentary, they would need someone to fill his place and I doubt they have anyone that could. Not worth it to have him coach the team for 11 games...

No way Mr. Frazier is on the sidelines. He looks great but people forget that he is about to turn 69 years old.

He is a sensei, he has mastered life. If guys want to seek him out they should feel free. Most of these guys are ignorant. They would do well to read Mr. Frazier's book The Game Within The Game to get a good idea of Mr. Frazier's sincere insights into the game. Fantastic read!

Clyde may be the only thing this organization has left that it hasn't shat on yet. Leave him out of this mess.
Rookie @ 3/26/2014 12:48 PM
I thought Clyde has said, even recently, when asked that the only reason he has never coached is because no-one has ever asked. At 69, not a long term option but I do believe he would be intrigued about the prospect of working with PJ and said as much in an interview recently

you mean coach a hopeless 2014-2015 campaign? why would he stoop to that level? he has it all figured out and he doesn't need that sort of challenge!

on the other hand, if he wants to coach a roster that has been assembled for 2015-2016 that would be an interesting wrinkle.

misterearl @ 3/26/2014 1:03 PM
Clyde as an interim coach is a waste of his time.

The roster will be totally overhauled in two years.

Installing Clyde for 11 games is an insult to his knowledge and his legacy.

Sure...head coach: Walter Frazier
Assistants: Bill Bradley (We can't be low IQ with a Rhodes Scholar on the bench),
Willis Reed (coaching experience, great draft choice history),
Patrick Ewing (he's gonna shit when he hears who got this gig over him),
Butch Beard (chief rehabilitator; meet Stat and Kmart and Bargs),
Herb Williams (just because),
Chris Dudley (offensive move guru to FluTyfoon)

I doubt Clyde would be insulted. He's probably more insulted that nobody has ever asked. Right man at the right time. I say seize the Bull by the horns and show the league you can make a difference.

Dantoni has been a disgrace in LA and he's about to get fired too so I doubt that's what he was laughing about.

CrushAlot @ 3/26/2014 5:31 PM
No but if Phil ends up on the bench and Clyde joins him I think that would be great. The Knicks need to play out the schedule and then reset. Hopefully the next coaching staff doesn't include Herb.
