Who was he passing it to? 2 for 18 Starks?

h20, LJ and spree came on board later and they still got theirs

Maybe he thought the way you do and thats why he did not pass.

Maybe Melo has the same mindset. Is that ok?

I don't think so.

Ewing shot 50+% for his entire career. I wanted him to take every shot. Centers dominated the game back then. If Melo shots over 50% like Lebron And Durant I will consider letting him take every shot but those 8 for 20 stinkers don't help his cause. I still wouldn't pay him $30 because not even Lebron and Durant make that much

Hakeem also shot > 50 percent for his career yet he was still willing to pass.

Melo's TS is 55 (56.5 this year) for his career and Ewing's was 55 too(edited / corrected). Hakeem's was also 55 (very solid for a non 3 point shooting centers).

Ewing was great at alot of things. Defense, Rebounding, Scoring. Not passing. If he was a more willing passer, h

David Robinson avg. 2.5 assists for his career and had a whopping 58 TS which is incredible.

Ewing was ours and we loved him but he had faults that kept him off the plateau of the top centers of his time.

He is up there in great company. Got the most out of his talent. Ultimate warrior

I personally believe that Lopez has far greater impact on a game than Bargnani. Before his injury, Lopez seemed to reach a new plateau and became an effective help defender and was always a decent ball defender. His only shortcoming are his rebounding numbers but he's very close to being a superstar big IMO.

I disagree about Lopez's impact being great than Barg's. The Nets seem to play the same whether Lopez is in the lineup or not while Bargnani has a very tangible, terrible effect when he plays .

Joking aside, I want nothing to do with a highly paid big man with a history of foot problems; that never ends well for anyone.

Great warrior but much more flawed than the "great company". Shaq, Robinson and Hakeem were miles better than him in every category.

The passing issue is on him. He chose to be that way. I know that you are his biggest fan hence you name but did he not frustrate you a bit? Could he have been better if he was more of a team player / willing passer?

How about that he is averaging > 1 assist per game the last 2 seasons?

He is one that can actually make amare look like a willing passer (not by much though).

What star big men are known as passers?

Kevin Love, Gasol, Gasol 2, Howard (he's ok), Noah (he is great) etc ...

Any player with a high usage rate should be able to pass.

But far more are not e.g. LaMarcus Aldridge, Chris Bosh, Roy Hibbert, etc.

LA is way overrated but he is avg. 2.0 for his career and 2.6 this year. Bosh averages 2 assists for his career (a lot better than 0.9). Hibbert is also averaging 2.1 per 36m.

Love and Noah and the Gasol's are just great and willing passers. Tim Duncan is avg. 3.1 for his career.

Winning teams have big men that are willing passers.

During Houston's championship years Hakeem avg'd 3.5 assists in the regular season and 4.5 in the playoffs. That was one of the main reasons that he was so much better of a player than Ewing.

You left Boogie Cousins off the list. Third best assist percentage for a center in the league behind Noah and Pau. Ewing had some years where he was willing passer and other years where he was a black hole. It depended on the roster. But when you look at his career assist percentage, things don't look as bad. He isn't Arvydas Sabonis by any stretch of the imagination, but it's better than what Roy Hibbert, Andrew Bogut and some other bigmen who are considered good passer are doing this season. Cousins is a 5 tool player - there is no denying that. He is just a tool. Ewing did have some better passing years (e.g. the finals year - 2.6). So we know that he could pass he just did not like doing it enough.

Ewing was a great player and a great Knick. That was always the knock on him though that and the damn finger roll

He shot 50+% for his career. I'm ok with him not passing to guys who couldn't shoot. Sure there were times when he probably should've but he was our best option at the time

So I guess we can use the same excuse for Melo.

gunsnewing @ 4/2/2014 6:46 PM
Yea when Melo shoots 50+% but then we will be right there with Lebron and Durant

Melo's career TS is 55 right about where Ewings was. FG is depricated.

Lebrons TS on the Heat is a ridiculous 62. That dude should be benched every time he passes the ball.

Durants is 60 for his career and almost 65 the last 2 seasons!

So yes. when Melo can get his TS to 60+ than we can start talking about top 5.

Yeah, Boogie is like Garnett. You hate him unless he's on your team. The dude is a beast though.

What makes you say that?

His numbers have always seemed very empty and he is a poor rebounder and overrated defender, constantly getting exploited. He is very Eddy Curry-like (although not that bad) in terms of overall impact. Yet he's viewed as an all-star just because he is one of the few centers that can score.

Bropez for Tyson works on trade checker. If healthy Bropez is worth the money. The problem is his career ends the next time he breaks his foot and his deal is for three more years. I don't think the nets have anything to sweeten the deal but Kidd thinks highly of Tyson.

Nalod @ 4/4/2014 3:16 PM
Nets went in with 4 centers.......Garnett, BroPez, Blatch and Plumlee..........Plum and BLatch are doing really well!

Deep as hell, Plumlee is a top 5 rookie of the year candidate and given his contribution and effeciancy he will get consideratin over Olidapo and the kid from philly who have good numbers with awful win totals.

I doubt he gets that award but Plum is an asset!

Im thinking Garnett Retires?

I don't understand the NEts finances so how they keep Livingston and Blatch are beyond me.
