Knicks · K J Mcdaniels--a better version of Shumpert pre injuries (page 1)

BRIGGS @ 4/2/2014 6:21 PM

He's been around a few years but I watched him during the NIT and came away impressed--hes a GREAT defender--as in all NBA type potential but he's also a good ballhandler and can also shoot reasonably well. He s definitely a sleeper type but the type of player who can help right away.

mreinman @ 4/2/2014 6:28 PM
He looks far better than Shumpert - this dude can actually finish. Isn't he projected in the 1st round?

How would we get him?

Yeah, he reminds more of Desmond Mason that Shump. Dahntay Jones would be worst case scenario. I don't know how we can get him. We need to set reasonable goals and look at the Aaron Crafts and CJ Fairs of the world. Guys who might slip out of the draft and be available for free agents.

Seems like a solid off the ball player with a poor man's Gerald Green type athleticism.
RonRon @ 4/2/2014 8:56 PM
in my opinion, McDaniels, is more comparable with Gereld Green, Brandon Rush, and maybe even Jeremy Evans in Utah
This is a very DEEP DRAFT, from 20-50, even later and undrafted we have to do our Homework and look to develop/collect talent

This is why I have been pushing for the Knicks to actually collect as many draft pick for this summer and future drafts as we can
Rather than chasing the 8th spot, which would be nice, but diluting Tyson Chandler, Iman Shumpert, and getting rid of all 2015 and beyond salaries with JR Smith/Felton/Pablo, even Tim Hardaway JR (if we can sell high on him like 2 2nd rounders in this draft and a future 1st rounder)

If Melo insist to opt out, we should have looked to unload him rather than risk losing him for NOTHING, though we can still achieve this if Rockets are interested in him
Something like 2 2nd rounders in this draft, our future 2nd rounder, and possibly 1-2 1st rounders that Houston owns, in addition to Lin and Asik (depending if their contracts are 15m or 8, we can unload Felton and JR as well who are both solid backups)

As for Asik, I think many teams like OKC would prefer him over Chandler, and would be able to get something out of him, either with 1st round picks and bad contracts like Perkins or for a versatile player like Wilson Chandler/Thaddeus Young

Harrison is comparable to Dion Waiters and is a combo guard

This is a great draft--I have no idea where anyone past 12 or so might fall. I think Napier has played into round 1 top 20 or so. I'm just looking for guys who might fill a Phil Jackson type team. I know he likes multiple 7 footers as role players--so a guy like Bahcyinski might be a reasonable guess?

We should do good. There are guys projected to be left out who are much better than CJ Leslie. Bachinsky will probably fall out of the draft. I think scouts will hold his age against him. Plus, you have so many guys coming out who should probably stay in school and that's pushing the upperclassmen back. And that's before you even factor all the international guys whose names will pop up in the coming weeks. I wish we could add Nik Stauskas, but maybe someone like Joe Harris will go undrafted. This draft is deep in point guards, so some talented guys are sure to fall through the cracks.

I can see Oklahoma drafting Mcdaniels and Napier 29 and 21.

Look at picks 58-59-60 on nbadraft.net Bachincyski Smith Kane--when can you get those types of players at the end of the draft? In many respects they all have first round talent.
