Great teams went after Ronnie Brewer. I agree with you though on every thing else unless you are considering Shump as a lock down defender.
Who can we compare him to? Tony allen? Bruce Bowen? Dan Marjerle? Ron Harper?
His offensive IQ and efficiency are awful and have always been. I don't remember too many defensive 2 guards who were that awful offensively. Bowen at least learned to knock down the 3 to make his offense look less terrible.
Can Phil fix him? I don't think so but who knows, maybe he sees something fixable/teachable.
Bottomline is with Phil there will be a system in place and Shumpert will look a lot better in his role which Woodson never established for any player. Woodson wants to switch which renders zero accountability when defense is a team effort

Wow come to think of it, most of the leagues dumb moves were made by the Knicks and Detroit!
Shumpert for Gobert. Knicks need to start looking for a big man for the future I feel Gobert will become a solid center in the NBA.
the most value we can get from Shumpert is to keep him and develop him.
Or we can trade him and watch him flourish and star more threads about how the Knicks never develop their young players.
