To amnesty Amare with 80 mil left on the books and 4 years would have been crazy at the time. With the benefit of hindsight we can see his health has declinded but after a half an MVP type season it was plausible his return to form was not out of line.

Would never have happened after the first year but we should have played with billups that year as well as stat and after that season we would have amnestied stat (60 million remaining (equal to the third year of Lin's poison pill) and billups would have come off the books.

Who plays center?

Who plays center?

You see? That is the problem. Someone in the organization decides that we have no center and says who plays center? Then someone else says: "hey I got an idea how to get a center, we amnesty billups and sign TYSON CHANDLER - dude can dunk and play D! MDA needs a defensive guy. But what about stat? What if we need to dump him? "nah ... stat is gonna be great!"

MDA needed a PG not a center. He has never really had or needed a center in his system especially one that can't shoot outside of 3 feet.

So did anybody ask: "who will be our starting PG?"

TONY PHUCKING DOUGLASS!! PERFECT!

Iman Shumpert was supposed to be the future pg.

The thing is that not only did MDA need a PG but more importantly MELO needed a real PG. The one time he got to the WCF's was with Billups. This is why everyone was looking for the Knicks to wait on CP3, but they abandoned that idea and went for Tyson, which made no sense for MDA or Melo or the entire TEAM. I don't hate Tyson, but he wasn't the key need and any novice would be able to see that. The thing now is that finally our President will be in synch with the needs of his coach rather than make moves that go completely against what he needs to succeed.

they should have stood pat and waited for chris paul in the first place instead of gutting the team for melo.

^melo allowed Dolan to raise prices and renovate the garden for a billion dollars. They could've had Paul after the amnesty had they not signed tyson

Oh yes, lets go inside CP3's brain:

"hmmmmmm, Blake/Deandre or Gallo/Stat? I can hardly compare Landry Fields to anyone on the West Coast! A chance to play with Moz! Loved that poster moment! Wilson Chandler, my hero!"

What planet do you live on?

+1, guns with the brilliant realistic insight.
This is, after all, a business.

Man, with a healthy CP3...what could have been.

Lol what? Chris Paul and melo are best friends. He wouldn't want to come here if melo wasn't on the team.

It would be funny to see an alternate universe where everyone who hates melo now hates cp3 because we traded those same players for him.
