Knicks · Melo to Bulls 'Pretty Much Done' - rgm board sauces (page 1)

Don't trust Realgm sauces....now if it was mama's sauce, that would be different
Bonn1997 @ 4/14/2014 7:15 AM
At least that would be less bad than giving him $25 to 30 mil per. Hopefully it's a sign and trade but I don't think there are many incentives to do that with the new CBA
Uptown @ 4/14/2014 7:32 AM
In all honesty, who the hell knows at this point especially seeing Melo and Thibs throwing bouquets at each other before the game. One might think Phil's presence would make Melo want to remain here, but reality says that with the way the CBA is set up, its going to take some time to build this team back up; time that Melo doesn't have.

If Melo wants to win now, the Bulls make a ton of sense...its almost a perfect team for him. Noah, a willing passer, Rose being the second scorer and a bunch of gritty defenders. That team would most certainly compete for a 'chip next year. It makes too much sense for Melo to pass up. Just hope we can sign and trade and get something of value back....

Im sure the "Sauces" are for dipping and most of them perhaps like some of the dips who contribute here are influenced by media we digest and imply self importance to that feed to coming up with their own conclusions.

If the "Sources" were reliable and can quantify them as being knowledgable then it could something to chew on. We all read and have "Information". Melo asks "whats it like to play for Thibs" and we conclude he's gone.

Basically we have two outcomes, so picking one is not going to be hard. Melo stays or he leaves. There are maybe 3 teams he can really go to and Chicago might be the the cleanest one of the bunch. If we can have a psychoDot like Playa2 deluding to all kinds of insider information then attention grabbing RGM whores who claim "Sources" to gain self imposed credential can spew all kinds of stuff. More power to them if they actually have such knowledge.

If Melo does leave then he did a hell of a job with the media keeping it all under the media frenzy! Same for Lebron if he departs Miami.

You did ask for "Thoughts".

1. If he leaves and knicks receive NO compensation then my thoughts are its a freaking disaster. His clearest path is to a team with having that team enact a trade for the obvious reasons: go to a team that gets depleted of talent is something he already did. This is a mess. My thoughts are Phil does not walk into such a stink unless he is already totally cool with it. Bye Melo, hello Lebron? Love? Tank for 2015 pick? If Im wrong, and I often am, then phil came here for a money/ego grab?

2. Its a miserable situation and its easy to say "MElO IS GONE". If he really wants a championship does he want it as part of an ensemble or as the man? Does a trio of Rose, Noah and Melo add up on the court? Pair with Nash, Kobe, a rookie (of substance)and a discounted Pau? Luol Deng loom out there for about 15mil. In both Cases Melo pairs with a legit "star" but whom has missed the better part of 2 seasons with serious injuries. Odds are both come back strong to former levels? Melo want to live in Houston?

3. Without Phil and no clear plan (demonstrated to fans) it would be obvious the knicks would be rudderless. Since we are rarely looking into the least transparent organization maybe in sports, we really have no idea what our plans are. Even with phil. But since Dolan got him I'd have to think there is/was more to things than we are let to know. When Phil and Melo have sit downs? Was Melo asked: "If we sign phil Jax here is the plan.............You good with that?. I can't imagine Melo was not in the loop for a while. That they only had a sit down in the locker room after he came on board does not seem logical to me.

4. I don't think Phil comes in to not make a legit contender run. This might not happen right away and we get worse. We only owe our 2016 pick out so we good after that.

These are my thoughts. I just don't know what will happen. Logic dictates a certain sequence but thats rarely reliable. When Stephan A. Starts screaming it from the rooftops we'll know it soon enough!

If we can get some 1st round picks, especially in the years that Anthony will be projected to decline in skills/health - then I think you pull the trigger. We don't have enough time to build a team with him given the hole we are in.

Question is - if there is no incentive to S&T under the new CBA and Melo is a FA, why would Chicago give us anything?

Andrew @ 4/14/2014 8:07 AM
I think there are a lot of incentives for a player to require a sign and trade right?
gunsnewing @ 4/14/2014 8:08 AM
Exciting news if true
StarksEwing1 @ 4/14/2014 8:27 AM
Hopefully we can do a sign and trade at at leas get something of value. 2015 is most likely gonna be another tough year with or without Anthony but if we can stockpile picks and get top FA in the 2015 FA class then we will be in good shape going into he 15-16 season
knicks1248 @ 4/14/2014 8:51 AM
melo is staying in NYK, bank on it.

I'm not sure. I think under the new CBA, he can't get any more money than if the team simply out-right signed him. I could be wrong though.

don't tease me like that!!!!

But lets not stop there, I want to ship every single player on this team out.. every last one... including the entire coaching staff, ball boys and trainers.. complete enema..

GustavBahler @ 4/14/2014 10:11 AM
Guess it was a secret sauce. I also believe the Bulls are a likely destination but the papers are saying that Kevin Love is Rose's off season workout partner. Maybe its Love they get instead. A front line of Love/Noah would be formidable if Love started playing D.

Melo would want to know who Jackson would surround him with but he can't do that until after he's signed a new deal.

Nalod @ 4/14/2014 10:30 AM
Bulls have a history post Krause of not being in a hurry and looks to me they won't go all in until they are very confident they can make a legit move and contend. Reinsdorf will spend but runs the franchise to not lose money.

Bulls go two deep in playoffs they are financially successful and fans line up and support the team very well! To take on Melo on a long term for big money seems pretty out of charactor. BUt so was Boozer.

fishmike @ 4/14/2014 12:46 PM
if they amnesty Boozer and trade Taj Gibson to a team with cap space they can do this without a sign and trade. If that happens and Melo opts out and leaves it will be nothing short of a disaster. There is a reason this is the first losing season Melo has ever had in the NBA.

Funny folks talk about sustainable winning and player value. Yet we have an all star, all NBA player, scoring title guy who can play with the MVPs of the league and people think we are better off without.

I look forward (again) to the days of wondering if guys like Gallo, Will Chandler, David Lee or Nate Robinson are winning players or not while we tally up win totals in the 20s and 30s. It should be great. Looking forward

dose of reality fish.. we are a lottery team with him.... I look forward to a future without him...

guy who can play with the MVPs of the league

you tend to wax on poetically with these phrases and comments..

"can play with the MVP's of the league"
" a guy teams can't deal with"

I mean come on dude, none of these things proved true and if they did they had no real impact on the knicks... Heck You just described a lot of guys in this league... and guess what, those guys get traded and they leave and their teams have gotten better.. we are not losing a Durant, or lebron or hell even a Paul george.. we will lose a one dimensional player.... A guy who will be on the other side of 30 soon and has not made this team better....

rejoice...thy salvation is NIGH!!

we were a lottery team... its a one off. You hate him. We all get that. You have one follower here you brought from your realGM exile, but most normal Knick fans dont really care about your opinion on the subject.

TKF's keys to game: "So tonight we... hello? Anyone out there? hello?"

Time will tell.

I guess Thibs (he's the Bulls coach) is just another Melo jock riding homer who is gushing over his game

Tom Thibodeau praised the abilities of Carmelo Anthony after the Chicago Bulls' morning shootaround.

"He can score so many different ways," Thibodeau said. "He can post up. He can catch-and-shoot. He can isolate. He can be the screener in a pick-and-roll. He can be the ball-handler in a pick-and-roll. He gets to the free-throw line. He’s a great offensive rebounder. If you overcommit your help, he probably doesn’t get enough credit for being a very good passer, particularly to the weakside corner. He can hurt you a lot of different ways. He can score the ball very easily. It doesn’t take him much to get going."

Thibodeau agreed that his reputation as a selfish ballstopper is overstated.

"It’s interesting because with USA Basketball, they talk about him being a playmaker," he said. "He scores and if a guy is open, he passes the ball. I think oftentimes it’s who he plays with.

"It’s interesting, a lot of the things that you hear about him, I heard about Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen and Paul Pierce before they came together and won it. That changes perception. Carmelo has been one of the elite scorers in the league for a long, long time."

We can add Tom Thibodeau to the long list of NBA dummies that dont have the knowledge TFK does.

while he praised his offense he said nothing about his defense.

hmmmmm.....

I think we win regardless. The Knicks situation isnon hold for a season.

Melo should leave to the Bulls. He would put them in the Finals possibly with a great group around him and best coach not named Popovich. It's the best opportunity for him.

The Knicks need to slow cook the pot. They need a new coach to set the ground work for the future. We should be looking to build around or youth next season and add a draft pick to the mix for 2015 off season.

Melo could come for the ride or not. The Knicks are still in limbo next year.

fishmike @ 4/14/2014 1:22 PM
back to real basketball talk:
All I can say is I hope he doesnt leave us high and dry, and its more a Denver situation where we get to work something out. Gut feeling still tells me stays, and Im pretty sure Phil pays him to stay. Unless he's got something else up his sleave (possible) like a handshake superfriends deal with 2-3 max guys comeing here.

Being realistic hard to see Phil spending 5 years in the lottery hoping for a guy to build around
