Its so funny. Everyone was so eager to declare the Nyets finished and the KNICKS are laughing. What if Nyets push this to 7?

Nyets are finished and the Knicks are laughing!

Good riddance nets- no idea what they do now for the next few years capped out, no picks, and a declining Deron Williams with a degenerative ankle condition, and Lopez with serious foot issues, but hopefully we won't have to hear any more about them for a while!

Oh, don't worry, you'll hear about them.

It's really really funny how other people's "fools gold" is sooooooo much shinier than ours was. To some people.
We got "swept" in the second round last season, but the Nyet's -- they showed heart and vet savvy by winning a game against the Heat! Great future!

Nalod @ 5/15/2014 10:58 AM
Joe Johnson battle with Lebron was intense for a while. Heat defense is just very intense. Last night was not about Net failure (only finanicially) but really was about Heat ability as a clutch defensive team.

Knicks just need to take care of Knicks business. Then maybe we can have a rivalry.

Teams that have faultered as much as we have don't have any rivals. Why worry about other teams, or bask in the glory of them not having any picks or uncertain future when Knicks future is far less certain and devoid of picks ourselves?

the knicks didn't get swept. they lost the series 4-2 against the second best team in the east, who was missing one of its starters for the fifth game which the knicks won.

the nets lost in five games to the champs. i don't see any shame in that.

but leave it to knicks fans to figure out a way to claim that "the enemy of my enemy is my enemy."

It's more like knicks fans who see the enemy of those on the knicks as the enemy, while the friends of the enemy are the enemy.

Retrace your steps more carefully, you seem to be tripping over yourself.

Also, you can't forget how many moves the Nets made to get DWill and then to try and keep him and keep him happy. From Beck:
This is surely not what general manager Billy King envisioned three years ago, when he plucked Williams from Utah and made him the franchise centerpiece. That Williams was then considered the equal (or at least close rival) of Chris Paul is of little comfort now, with Williams perpetually battling ankle injuries and crises of confidence.

"I used to feel like I was the best player on the court, no matter who we were playing against," Williams told reporters Thursday, an implicit acknowledgment of his diminished status.

The Williams trade cost the Nets two first-round picks, plus promising forward Derrick Favors. (The picks turned into Enes Kanter and Gorgui Dieng.) But the real cost has been so much greater.

In 2012, the Nets sent an unprotected first-round pick to Portland for the aging Gerald Wallace—a move made to placate Williams, who was miserable on a losing team and was demanding veteran help. That draft pick turned into Damian Lillard, who has quickly blossomed into an elite point guard.

At the time, the Nets' entire mission was to keep Williams happy to ensure he re-signed with them before the franchise moved to Brooklyn. That mindset cost them again in July 2012, when the Nets—pressed to give Williams an All-Star running mate—acquired Johnson from Atlanta for a package that included another first-round pick (Houston's, in 2013). The Nets also gave the Hawks the right to swap first-round picks in 2014 and 2015.

Of course, that 2014 pick now belongs to Boston, along with first-round picks in 2016 and 2018—the price of acquiring Pierce and Garnett.

Lots of big mistakes.
Little Pierce and Garnett said or did in the last few days suggested they have any intention of returning to Brooklyn to finish what they started.

And if that happens, the Nets are right back to where they were before they shipped Gerald Wallace, Kris Humphries, MarShon Brooks, Kris Joseph, Keith Bogans and three first round draft picks (2014, 2016 and 2018), as well as the right to swap first-round picks in 2017, to Boston.

Their back court needs to shoot a much higher percentage.

I really like wall and he does enough to mask his shooting issues but beal needs to do much more if he will shoot this way.

So was the trade a bust?

http://espn.go.com/new-york/nba/story/_/...

the trade was a success not a bust. pierce and garnett were brought in to support the core of williams, lopez, and johnson. lopez goes down and pierce and garnett are pressed into greater duties than their mileage would justify. williams, just like carmelo anthiny, is an overpaid max player not worthy of playoff success. his crumbling ankles are one thing but ultimately his game his suspect in terms of decision making-- just like carmelo anthiny. lastly, johnson has grown on me this year but he is still missing a killer instinct. he is vaguely reminiscent of that other grievous knick error: allan houston.

if you think williams was a bust then the carmelo anthiny trade was a total bust. can't have it both ways
