Its so funny. Everyone was so eager to declare the Nyets finished and the KNICKS are laughing. What if Nyets push this to 7?
Nyets are finished and the Knicks are laughing!
Good riddance nets- no idea what they do now for the next few years capped out, no picks, and a declining Deron Williams with a degenerative ankle condition, and Lopez with serious foot issues, but hopefully we won't have to hear any more about them for a while!
Oh, don't worry, you'll hear about them.
It's really really funny how other people's "fools gold" is sooooooo much shinier than ours was. To some people.
We got "swept" in the second round last season, but the Nyet's -- they showed heart and vet savvy by winning a game against the Heat! Great future!
Also, you can't forget how many moves the Nets made to get DWill and then to try and keep him and keep him happy. From Beck:
This is surely not what general manager Billy King envisioned three years ago, when he plucked Williams from Utah and made him the franchise centerpiece. That Williams was then considered the equal (or at least close rival) of Chris Paul is of little comfort now, with Williams perpetually battling ankle injuries and crises of confidence."I used to feel like I was the best player on the court, no matter who we were playing against," Williams told reporters Thursday, an implicit acknowledgment of his diminished status.
The Williams trade cost the Nets two first-round picks, plus promising forward Derrick Favors. (The picks turned into Enes Kanter and Gorgui Dieng.) But the real cost has been so much greater.
In 2012, the Nets sent an unprotected first-round pick to Portland for the aging Gerald Wallace—a move made to placate Williams, who was miserable on a losing team and was demanding veteran help. That draft pick turned into Damian Lillard, who has quickly blossomed into an elite point guard.
At the time, the Nets' entire mission was to keep Williams happy to ensure he re-signed with them before the franchise moved to Brooklyn. That mindset cost them again in July 2012, when the Nets—pressed to give Williams an All-Star running mate—acquired Johnson from Atlanta for a package that included another first-round pick (Houston's, in 2013). The Nets also gave the Hawks the right to swap first-round picks in 2014 and 2015.
Of course, that 2014 pick now belongs to Boston, along with first-round picks in 2016 and 2018—the price of acquiring Pierce and Garnett.

translation: the nets made as big a mistake acquiring williams as the knicks made acquiring anthiny.
feels good don't it?
the sad thing is even with the nets making a similar mistake to the knicks, they still managed to make it to the second round despite losing their starting Center for the season...
OKC will have to overcome the refs tonight. They can't eff with the clippers tonight especially at home

Their back court needs to shoot a much higher percentage.
I really like wall and he does enough to mask his shooting issues but beal needs to do much more if he will shoot this way.
I think beal just needs to shoot better and continue to hustle on defense.. and he showed at times he is more than capable.. the kid is just 20 years old...Pretty successful year for the kid, and not really a bad playoffs at all.... not counting tonights game 20/5/5 pretty much.. that is not bad at all... and he shot 42% from three, according 38% from three is highly efficient, so I am sure 42% is through the roof... right?
It is nice to know we have lofty standards for 20 year old first time playoff players who advanced in their first year.. we should also hold those with 12+ years in the league to the same standards...

Not a good one. His 3 point shooting was good. Everything else was not too good.
I like washington's team and hope that he improves. I don't think that he is as good as people think though he is young so lets hope that he improves.

5 boards and 5 dimes a game for a guard and 1.6 steals is pretty good if you ask me.. and his three point shooting wasn't just good.. It was super highly efficient.. right?
if anything you should be saying he should be shooting more threes... that would be consistent with your views....

17 points 3.7 rebs 3.3 assists and 1.0 assists with low shooting pct's overall is nothing to be too excited about.

I stated before tonights game he was 20/5/5, look it up, its not that hard... that is more than enough to be excited about.. and please don't talk about low shooting % i thought 42% from three was highly efficient in your book?
dude you adjust your criteria to fit who you want...

His playoff numbers were very good.

Yep, playoffs numbers were pretty good but his yearly stats is not that great for people to call him a sharp shooter. I hope he grows into the all around player he was at UF and continue to improve his shot selection. That will be on his coaches too though.
I've been watching Beal since he and Austin Rivers committed to UF. People fall in love with his shooting form and since he is young they go gaga. He is a nice player that's growing.
Beautiful pass by Griffin...
All tied going to the 4th.
Collison has been huge for OKC..
Clean block by Griffin...This is BS..
Westbrook fell down on his own..

Yeah ... I have not watched all of his playoff games playoff but the ones that I have watched he did not shoot too well. Apparently, he had a number of good games that I missed.
Beal was certainly overrated during the regular season based on his production though some don't really care about numbers and have their own criteria.
THE CRITERIA DOES NOT CHANGE. YOU ARE EITHER EFFICIENT OR NOT. IF YOU ARE NOT THEN YOU BETTER BE MAKING UP FOR IT SOMEWHERE ELSE.
He had a good playoffs which is too small a sample size to judge (compared to his 73 games in the regular season). Let's see how he plays next year.
GAGA was a good way to put it.
The reason why I actually think that Beal has potential is that he really does have great form and he is so efficient from 3. He is pretty bad from 2 so that is a sign that he may just need better shot selection to become a good player. He also needs to get to the line more often.
If you look at Reggie Millers first 2 seasons and how efficient he was you can see that its not just about age. People are talking about Beal as if he was the next Reggie Miller.
Ha, Ed Malloy strikes again- fans started throwing drinks at him in the Clippers game.
It's a shame Steven Adams played so well- the better he plays the less likely OKC will want to trade for Tyson.
smackeddog wrote:It's a shame Steven Adams played so well- the better he plays the less likely OKC will want to trade for Tyson.
True. It would just depend on how well their bigs do against the spurs. Tyson is an all in crapshoot that a team might take because its a one year buy and low draft picks are expendable to them.
So remember how Melo got blasted for his playoff record? What do people think about CP3? Why does he never seem to get far in the playoffs?

I was thinking about that last night (that he has never made a conference final) however, a player should not be judged on what his team did if he played well and Paul has had some absolutely brilliant playoff years.
Melo has not played well in the playoffs for the most part.

I agree you can't just look at playoff wins- I genuinely don't understand though why CP3 doesn't seem to get further in the playoffs- his stats always look good, he plays great, he's had some good teams- not sure what else he can do.
