All the talk of everyone from Houston coming here for Melo. What about Harden for Melo. Melo might arguably be better but Harden is younger and in his early prime. And a lot cheaper! Seems rockets fans are ready to run him out of town.
Any trade scenarios involving Harden and Melo?
Seriously?
No way in bloody hell that Houston makes that move. Morey is not retarded, he is quite smart.
I do predict many pages in this thread though
In a heartbeat. For one, Harden is much younger.

You are right. Maybe this helps with the perceptions of Melo's worth
It works money wise (if they dump Asik on as well), but only if Houston is as down on Harden as you're saying. Is Morey down on Harden too? Any links to Morey hates Harden?
guns - getting giddy thinking about Harden and the Triangle, huh?

have you watched Harden in the playoffs? Boy you guys think Melo chucks... yikes
As a card carrying Melo lover, I still like the Parsons, Lin, & Asik for Melo dump. And it won't require Morey to be as dumb as Jimmie to do it.
Melo gets Houston, possibly gets his ring, and we get to see what Hardball Phil can do with a team full of mid level players and yoots.

Yeah, his playoff career FG% is almost as bad as Melo's!

is morey responsible for splitting $30mm between Lin/Asik? Doesnt strike me as terribly smart.

We gotta stop the Eye tests and start checking stats.
Harden's playoff TS = 58.5!
Melos = 51.3
McHale is really doing a bad job with him. He needs to use him more effectively off the ball. And, as smart as Morey is, he gave away 2 great PG who are so desperately needed right now.

Well to be fair since both were poison pill contracts the average of the salaries counts against HOU's cap. So in both cases, he was paying $8 million per player. Not too bad considering Asik looked much better before Dwight arrived.

Chicago traded Tyrus Thomas for Aldridge. Everyone makes mistakes.
And 30 million between the two is only for the final year which he probably won't end up paying for. Guess who probably will?
Harden under Phil's system might be interesting. Gonna have to defend better though but I think he has the motor for it with proper guidance

so there you go.. and the guy's a weirdo. His defense is non existant. At this point player for player I take Melo hands down. Also assuming Melo resigns at a reasonable rate as promised. If other pieces are involved ok, but what would they be?

Yeah, I cited FG% for simplicity but it's obviously a flawed stat. I do have some concerns about Harden but he's only paid $16 mil per and he's an excellent player overall.

Yeah, those wouldn't even be top 50 bad Dolan contracts!

Im sorry... I was talking about the advanced stat that has the Rockets down 0-2 where Harden shot 6-19 and 8-28. Dude shot 3-14 from 3 point. Maybe you really just want to watch more JR Smith? Do you not watch basketball?

Not sure what you were commenting on (bolded).
Harden is making 13.7.

The only advantage harden has over melo is that he's younger. I think it's a pretty neutral trade for both sides.

I don't judge players by two games. I judge them by all their games.
"Do you not watch basketball?"
I love that response.
And, go to the game thread and if you want game context, see the content.
You cannot trade Melo like for like. When you trade Melo for another Superstar, you will just be in the same position you were before- where you have no flexibility to improve around that superstar- in this case Harden.
The only reason to trade Melo is for more flexibility to get better. Trading Melo for 2-3 young starting pieces makes us more flexible. I.e. Lin, Asik, Parsons. What that does is gives usplayable starters to be competetive, but it also brakes up the large salary into more tradable assets that would allow us to make tweaks and improvements.
