Asik and Lin would come off the books on 2015 (can someone consign that) and pardon is awesome and the first round picks are money.
Sounds crazy, but Lin, stat, bargs, chandler, Asik is not a bad starting 5. We still have shump and hardaway and parsons (who could easily be a starter).
And come 2015 we have a ton of cap space with Asik, Lin, chandler and bargs coming off the books.
There is no way that Houston makes that deal. They won't take Felton and JR (nor does it match salary cap wise) and we will be lucky if we get just one of their picks.
Melo and Harden would not go well together.

I think they can be great together if they are willing to play to each others strengths.

I just don't see it- their personalities don't really seem to mesh- add Dwight to the mix and you have 3 top players with no leadership abilities between them.

Harden is still young and I agree that Dwight is an issue. He is an issue where ever he goes.
I think that a good coach could make it work.
Talent/fit wise, he belongs on Houston with Harden and their spread offense creating many wide open looks/3's for Melo.
Leadership / coaching, he should go chicago but only if they get a PG as well. They will need someone to initiate the offense. Right now that person is Noah playing point center.

Getting first rounders [as in any] for Melo. Oh the humanity!
The trade works for just Melo. As mreinman points out, who the eff wants Raymond Felton? What's JR done to you? Make too little money? Let your Chris Smith hate balloon go.
Someone touting Bargs as a starting 2 guard, alongside stat, chandler and Asik? Get me that clip of the Bargs dunk attempt/ending of the season play!
How come all last year we got blasted for shooting lots of threes, with the pundits saying it wasn't sustainable in the playoffs, but no one made that same criticism of the Rockets this season?

What are you talking about? Sir Charles has been getting on them the whole season.
Gimmick teams launch 3s. Champions aren't as far up in the most 3's attempted category

Miami has been about 5th in league last couple of years. Nets 4th this year.
I guess it would depend on type of roster.

Okc, Miami and SA are 14th, 15th and 16th. The Nets are 10th.

Can you provide the link. Is that 3 point attempts per possessions?

I think they can mesh but its up to Harden. I thought he was the glue that held Durant and Westbrook together and made it work. In OKC, Harden was the facilitator, especially down the stretch and allowed Durant and Westbrook to focus on what they do best; score. Harden always made better decisions with the ball than Westbrook and understood when to take it out of his hands.
Since the trade to Houston and the signing of his big contract, Harden looks at himself as more of a scorer. With Melo and Howard, the coach would have to convince Harden to be more of a playmaker, similar to his days in OKC because that would benefit the team tremendously.
Things that make you go hmmmmmmmmmmm

neither play to the strengths of the players they're playing with so how do you conclude they'd do so with one another?
