Knicks · James Harden finding the switch from option #3 to option #1 aint easy.... (page 2)

McHale is extremely lucky to be back next season. You have Harden and Howard(and a ton of good pieces around them) you need to at least make it out of the first round with that duo.

WELL THis is the first year with this core group together. Mchale should get a chance to be back and improve upon this season.

They have no starting PG, Harden went stone cold, and Portland is a damn good team. Despite all that, they were an eye lash away from winning.

That goes both ways, they were also an eye lash from being swept.
I think they are not utilizing Howard on offense enough. This is the key issue with Melo or Harden type players. The rest of the players never get into any kind of rhythm on offense. Chandler Parsons is a very good player too. McHale should focus drawing up plays for both him and Howard instead of letting Harden decide. He needs to be on Harden's case to make him engage his teammates more.

With teams like Indiana and OKC barely getting out of the first round, Golden State out in the first round, these are teams that have been together and are expected to go deep into the playoffs. Houston out in the first round has to be somewhat expected, or expectations for some teams need to be adjusted. Only Miami is a sure thing it seems at this point. Everyone else playing a good team has already fought for their playoff lives. Even with multiple star players, its incredibly hard to advance in the playoffs.

and that is the sad truth....

The way these playoffs have been going, I wouldn't anoint the Heat so fast. The Nets are deep and tons of savvy vets with playoff experience. Not to mention, they have two closers and one guy (Not your average Joe) who will be a tough cover for the Heat. I will be rooting like crazy against the Nets but I think they will give the Heat a tough series.
Uptown wrote:its been a great playoffs, but I think your wrong on the Heat/BK series. Heat will be rested, and are 10x tougher than the Raps who essentially lost a 7 game series by 1 point. I get the feeling the Heat come out and stomp them. I agree that that if BK can keep it close late that they have a lot of tools to finish games and win, but I dont think they have the ponies to keep it close. I see Mia/Was in the conf finalsKnixkik wrote:LegendaryKnicks wrote:tkf wrote:what they really need is a defensive wing player, and for harden to just work on his defense as well. Jeremy Lin sucked? as that based on the 1 game you watched in that playoff series??
that assist to troy daniels in game 3 won them the game. game 5 he had a career high 21pts while Harden was dogging it. game 6 he plays great defense in the 4th against Lillard and for some inexplicable reason McFail benches him and puts Parsons on Lillard and you know what happens after that.
Lin was a big factor in the rockets' 2 victories in that series.

Mchale is a dumb coach—in the same level as woodson.

very true, but you know how it goes around these parts.. gotta make lin look bad to justify NY not keeping him...

I think Mchale is a good coach, a little slow with his adjusments, but not woodson bad.. LOL

Very few who really do that ...
Lin is a good backup PG. The problem is that Houston gave up to top tier starting PG's in Dragic and Lowry. They will regret that for a long time.

Not sure they gave them up. I think I read those two didn't want to stay in Houston and chose to leave.

Dragic wanted to stay. I think he wanted an extra year or the last year to have a player option and Morey said, "bye". Lowry just didn't get along with Mchale.
I always said they should have kept Dragic because he wanted to stay

I think everyone would agree with this but Lin is only 25 and one could argue he is on the same road as Dragic. I mean he was traded from phx for a reason and also a back up in Houston because he hadn't developed yet or he just got better coaching with Hornacek.

that is a good point. I mean dragic went from the guy getting baptized by a derek rose Dunk, to an all star caliber player with the suns. His game has improved. I wonder how well a guy like dragic would work with harden who also handles the ball a lot as well..
