Knicks · Is Marv Albert in Steve Kerr's ear?? I think a lot of people are talking to him. Don't be surprised if he bounce from NY (page 1)
The New York rep. Not a good one. Marvs departure from the Garden was bad. Kerr and Albert are buddies. They do NBA shows together. Something is going wrong! Kerr may not come to New York especially if he knows Melo is not coming back. That will mean years of being a bad team. Worse than this year. They need a Super Star type player to make that triangle to work. Remember when MJ left the team to play baseball what happened?? LOL the triangle didn't work.

sarcasm on the last part? the bulls nearly (and probably) should have beat the knicks in 94

OH yea?? Well we should have beaten the Bulls when MJ and Pipen fouled Charles Smith several times at the end of the game and the refs didn't call it. It's a 2 way street. Look LeBron scored 49 points last night and I think 34 points was from the foul line. Who else gets that pass?? OHH yes D Wade in his first championship against Dallas. What a joke.

your point was that the triangle failed with no mj, it didnt. the foul stuff isnt part of what i was responding too nor was it in your op.

I agree but when you said the Bulls should have beaten us in 94 I disagree. You opened the door. We had a good team in 94 and we always took the Bulls to 7 games back then.

based on mj/triangle bolded part, thats why i mentioned 94. that bulls team wasnt supposed to be able to do what it did that year, based on the loss of mj (reg season and playoffs). i recall folks thinkin they wouldnt even make the playoffs.

Then whats taking him so long? Why is the price for Kerr off the chart? This is a little bit like Linsanity
The money he is asking for is more than top proven coaches get and he haven't coached a game.
2. Do we think in Jax contract we won't make roster changes to suit the system?
So how can we comment on the validity on the "Triange" based on our roster? Does JR smith ahve any role? Shump? Bargnani?
What is the possible path here?
So if you have a choice, do you throw together a roster and then hire a coach or develope a system and build it with that blueprint?
1. To build a solid culture you need a solid foundation. Start at the top. Dolan is there, then next rung on the ladder is Phil. Improvement.
2. WHo does he want as floor general to execute?
3. Build a roster with players who will execute. First step is evaluate what you have and project their inclusion. Triangle is not rocket science btw. Did the Triangle make Jordan better? Pippen? Paxon? BJ armstrong? Rick Fox? Kobe? Shaq? etc?? I think it did.
Im blown away when "Jax won because of Jordan" is said. Well, lets see, do you think Auerback wins without great players? Riley? Anyone? Does Jax get any credit for being Jordans coach? How many rings Jordan win with out phil? ZERO. Give the man some credit, he did not make jordan, he tapped into his soul and pulled out greatness just enough to take him over the top.

Everyone has their own price. Lets look at this very closely. The "reported" price is via Berman initially, and without attributing a source. Was it the agents starting point? Did the Knicks ask Kerr what he wanted, and of course you ask for the world and start negotiating from there? This could also be the price that Kerr wants to (1) leave a nice job at TNT that pays who knows what, and (2) makes it worthwhile for him to leave his family and join our mess of a family. Its not like Kerr is desperate for a job here, and that the Knicks have such a great history with coaches that everyone is just chomping at the bit to come here. Comparing salaries to other coaches isn't relevant in this situation.

Or "buddies on TV"? YOu think they hang out together? Go our for a "Bite"? Exchange cross dress tips?
You think Kerr don't know the gig in MSG?
Albert Left 10 years ago!
We have a Prez who's 70 and has to sit in high chairs to survive games. He's not building through the draft, not even if 5 of Sam Barry's and Tex Winters' illegitimate kids are all 6'10" PG's in the next 3 drafts. Who's giving us any draft picks anyway? Everyone hates us. So what true starphuch is coming here with no Melo? LBJ? CP3? Blake? Seriously? Those ships have sailed, no matter what Soupy Sterling says next.
Marv Albert, career consultant. Too funny.

Phil Jackson won't be coaching. And if he is coaching from the stands and telling Kerr everything what to do then why in the hell pay Kerr all that money. He can get someone else to do the same thing as kerr. And if Phil say he can't do it with out Kerr. Man we are in a sad place.

If Steve Kerr is the all and all and Phil can't do this job without him we are in trouble. I do not think that Kerr was in LA with him when he won those rings. So what about those coaches? Hell They tell Melo to take less but they sure ain't. What happened to Phil coming home as a hero to help where he got his first 2 rings from? Hey I love the Phil hire but I have a problem with Steve Kerr especially when Phil will be telling him everything to do. Now after thinking about it I changed my mind about him going to GS. He ain't got the heart! Here is a team playoff ready with very good players. Why ?? Because here he has Phil to hide behind getting 6 million a year. What a joke.

You need not worry about Kerr anymore. Most of the reasons he took GS is out there and you either agree or not. He took a 5mil per year gig without Phil. The president Rick Welts of GS was with him in PHX and his owner really wanted him and was willing to go 5 years. His team is playoff ready, has its best player under contract and nice roster already with some flexibility to make trades.
Then there is the proximity to San Diego. It adds up.
In NY there is MeloUncertainty, Amare's knees/back, no PG and JR Smith. Add Dolan and a vicious media complex would need lots of incense and Zen to smooth that over. Seems like his 6 year request was to get to 5 where Knicks were at 3.
On to the next guy. Stay tuned.
pressure's on

No, not necessarily building through the draft per say but if Melo leaves the smart thing to do is run that Bargs led triangle and cringe all the way to the 1st pick in the draft. What else could the team do? The Knicks are capped out whether Melo leaves or not.
Really though my question is this: Is adding a top pick to two max free agents in 2015 "building through the draft"? Or, is it taking an unfortunate situation and making the best of it by maximizing the value of a draft pick?
Say Melo bolts and we win the lotto after a moribund season of watching Bargs do Bargs things like completely sucking on a semi-permanent basis. Tell me it wouldn't be sweet to have a top pick in a draft plus a nearly empty payroll sheet? Even with losing Melo the knicks really aren't in that bad a position. Certainly better than the Nets who will be surrendering draft picks for two guys playing shuffleboard at The Villages
