yea thats what sucks

gotta root harder for LAC now

reminds me of how everyone knew the knicks wanted steph curry leading up to that draft, and assumed he would be there at their pick...oops...

ny being the 'center' it is of media coverage gives all targets of the knicks incredible leeway.

seems like the knicks are finally taking developing their own talent seriously. They finally realized this after paying so dearly for Amare and Melo

it's the problem of being a big money team with a huge, passionate fan base that has taken such big risks on players and coaches over the past 15 years, yet through this has seemed desperate to improve their status to compete. meanwhile teams that have less pressure can do so under the radar, and are in better shape in the current nba system as they are structured.

until the knicks are a consistent winner again the "lure" of nyc is more of a bargaining chip for most.

First off you have to say we got punked--no doubt about it. Secondly PJ does not have as much influence as we might ve thought.

kerr is not the only option.

phil jax trying to set a precedent for the long term?

"the knicks will not just give in to your requests."

I don't think thats it. I think Kerr listened to his family. This was Kerr's decision. Probably did not want Kids to change schools. I don't even think he looks at GS as having a better roster

Rookie @ 5/14/2014 9:25 PM
at first glance of the first page, I thought all the headlines read "Kerr sperms Knicks". The weird thing about the last few weeks was that the talks were so public. My feeling back then was Kerr was leaking everything to the media creating his own buzz to get the biggest pay day. GSW offered the most, really nothing more to it then that even though he will play the closer to home card to protect his image. Kerr can spin it any way he wants, but I always follow the money and GS offered more.
gunsnewing @ 5/14/2014 9:26 PM
What did GS offer? Knicks are 4yrs $20. GS 5yrs $25?
Cartman718 @ 5/14/2014 9:26 PM
yes dammit. he was asking for too much.
WP76 @ 5/14/2014 9:31 PM
I just can't get that upset about this. $5M/year for five years for a guy that's never coached an NBA game just seems out of line to me--regardless of his "pedigree." The Warriors can foot the bill for Kerr's on-the-job training and the Knicks can move on to somebody who really wants to be in NY.

It looks that way. Now, is he going to try and shake Jax's family tree for assistants? Now that would piss me off. GS fired all Mark Jackson's asst coaches.

DJMUSIC @ 5/14/2014 9:44 PM
Wow NY used & abused by KERR
DJ didnt see it coming tonite (blind.. my bag)
NY /Phil J got used & abused like a cheap $5 ho'
LOL
RonRon @ 5/14/2014 9:53 PM
Depends if Melo leaves or not

If he stays, at what price to chase talent on which years

If he leaves, will we get compensation

Then can we turn out current players to assets

And

If so what picks and what year

We have a lot of homework to do and a lot of decisions to make before we can really consider what system/philosophy to run

I say Tim Duncan with some of ex Poppavich pupils to guide him
With a very strong lead assistant
With some development/assistant coaches like Rasheed Wallace, Ron Harper, Kevin Ollie, Hoiberg

Maybe JVG if PJ wasnt PJ

Would have targeted Poppavich to play PJs role and hand select/develop his future coach like Riley/Spoeshra

Also, MJax had a lot of success there. The expectation is for them to take the next step in the western conference. That will be tough to do while figuring things out. Also, expect West to be a regular at practice now.

damn...phil fell asleep at the wheel like donnie boy. oh well...on to the next lemming. melo is gone...
gunsnewing @ 5/14/2014 9:55 PM
Popovivh is retiring with Duncan. No chance he would ever come here

I'd rather have Mark Jackson in spite of his lack of triangle knowledge. He loves NY, played here, and you know he'd jump at the opportunity. Bring on M. Jackson as HC with Derek Fisher as the "triangle consultant" and we're on our way.
