David Aldridge reports....
Perhaps we'll find a coach with more experience.

http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/233...Steve Kerr has accepted the head coaching position of the Golden State Warriors.
Kerr had long been expected to eventually reach a deal with the New York Knicks.
Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reports the deal is for $25 million over five seasons.
Kerr will have a more established roster to work with as head coach of the Warriors, plus he gets to remain on the West Coast.
Kerr has been a broadcaster with TNT since leaving his post as general manager of the Phoenix Suns.

Just saw that. Doesn't sound like something that would happen if Phil had autonomy. Not that disappointed about losing Kerr but I am disappointed that at least on the surface it doesn't appear that Dolan has given Phil autonomy. Maybe this means Phil coaches.

Not sure about the autonomy bit...Honestly, the Warriors made more sense for Kerr in a number of ways. Better, younger roster, closer to home, etc. Phil was the only saving grace for the Knicks but our roster is not very appealing.
I'm a little shocked. All the signs pointed to the Knicks situation being the best opportunity. I'm guessing he really wanted to be on the west coast for his family.
So who else is on our radar? I seriously can't see anyone more fit to be Phil's extention.

You are probably right. Have to stop reading Isola's tweets
Does Lamar have any coaching experience?

no but he has life experiences
GS put on the full court press and they were desperate after losing out on SVG. They went all in and with the added plus of being on the west coast it's not that hard to understand Kerr staying close to home. My feeling is like PJax said, fortunate if he comes and fortunate if he doesn't. ON TO THE NEXT ONE!!! MJax is out there. Fisher could be an option. Lionel Hollins is out there. We'll be just fine.

Yeah, but he went to rehab. I thought active crack use was prerequisite for the Knick's coaching job.

yes this makes more sense.
Is Kerr getting GM duties as well as coaching?
Wow, I figured NY was the safer bet . . . even with Dolan.

Phil keeps saying no matter what they move forward so I'm sure we have a game plan

Did he say that about Kerr? I thought that was said about Melo.
Stinks this had to happen on the day the world was introduced to the Westchester Knicks
