Tell ya what, I know it won't hapen but if we somehow managed to move Shumpert and THJ (maybe even JR Smith as well) and replaced those guys with this kid Dinwiddie and Terrence Williams (another guy made for the triangle with his wide array of skills) I wouldn't be too upset about it. Then go out and try to get a truer PG for balance, preferably one with talent, speed and a little experience (Mills or Collison?), and maybe another reserve PG on the cheap somewhere with similar quickness/ability (Kalin Lucas?) or maybe another guy that can handle/initiate the offense/knock down open jumpers (Seth Curry?), we could have a brand new, souped up backcourt with a ton of versatility. All doable too. All those guys together would be light years ahead of what we went to war with in the backcourt this year imo.

I wouldn't mind that at all. I do hope the knicks keep hardaway or if he is moved come away with something worthwhile. I really hope the Knicks bring in Terrence Williams. I also think they should bring in Darius Morris. Both of those guys not on nba rosters right now makes no sense to me. Williams and Morris are both big guards that can handle the point.

This kid Dinwiddie's impressive -- mature dude with a mature game. Sounds like he's not 100% yet (not cleared for quick cuts left to right yet) but he's making good progress and plans on getting there. No doubt he will. Very mature way he presents the case for himself w/o sounding cocky. Just listening to him he doesn't sound worried at all as far as regaining top form. Confident in his ability and in the work he's been putting in to get back 100%. He makes you a believer...And he's right btw -- name me other 6'6" 205 PGs in this draft that can do all the things he can do -- pass, shoot 40% on 3s, score in a variety of ways, get to the line, etc.. There aren't any really. His skills should allow him to play on and off the ball in the NBA equally effective eventually. I also was impressed how he considers himself a lead guard but would be OK being a backup auxiliary/support player to a great player ahead of him...He likens himself to Shaun Livingston, Penny Hardaway---I can see some of that. Maybe some Mardy Collins/Michael Carter-Williams too only a much better shooter than either of those guys. Poor kid -- if he didn't hurt himself, he would've went 1st round for sure. Still might although I think he slips into the 2nd round with the questions surrounding his health. If we can get that Philly pick at 32, I'd take a chance on him. If he doesn't work out, oh well, we bought a 2nd round pick that didn't pan out. If he makes a full recovery however, with that package of skills at that size, he'd be a steal there I'm thinking.

A little further on the case for Dinwiddie --

Even if we keep Melo, we should be decent next year (let's hope for more wins than this year at least) but the big jump may not come until the following off-season when the major cap room opens up. That basically means that we should be able to take our time and rehab Dinwiddie properly. Another thing to consider..

Think of the worse knee injury -- for me, it's gotta be Shaun Livingston. It took him time to get back but look at the dude now:

If Livingston made it back, I'm encouraged that Dinwiddie can also. Shumpert made it back right? This injury may concern some (he very well may slip as a result) but I like him a lot for us. Get him, give him as much time as he needs and then look to him to be back 100% or close to it after next year when cap room opens up and hopefully major improvements are made. And if he's back to form before then, great. He very well could be.

What I'm looking for IF we even get into the draft is guys who can play NBA basketball and fill a specific role. One thing I don't want is trouble or character -laden issues off the bounce. Can a guy shoot a 3 in the nBA can a guy block a shot can a guy grab rebounds and obviously the best case scenario is a player who can do a multitude of those types of things well. Other than the C spot Im big on guys who can handle the ball well with both hands--guys who can make plays with the dribble can shoot pass and spread the floor.

I really think the Knicks should bring in Darius Morris. The kid is only 23 and he is very good. No assets needed to get him. Great old article on him from before the draft.

I'm glad to see Knicks worked out Semaj Christon. Ideal point guard does a lot of thing well including efficiency.

I prefer James Johnson as a BIG SF that can play PF vs Lebron/Durant/George etc, a defensive, long wingspan, great size, and average athleticism
If he can can a legit 3pt shot consistently, he could be a complete steal
Worth a fully guaranteed 2 year vet min deal in my opinion that is still a development project that was once a mid 1st rounder

See, that's how I feel about Devin Ebanks. With or w/o Melo, I'd like to see us bring in Ebanks for SL/pre-season with a legit shot to make the club. Up to me, I would've made those arrangements with he and his agent already...Coming out of college as only a middle-of-the-road prospect at best, I think he's worked really hard to improve as a player and we saw the proof last year. He even looked good for the Lakers when they had him. He's become quite the offensive force... He's not Kevin Durant I understand, but I see a lot of KD in his game. If Melo leaves, this kid could definitely help make up some of the lost offense. Even with Melo back in the fold, I like Ebanks for us.

I think a player who is going to jump up and go into the lottery is Napier.

I would love both players in James Johnson and Ebanks
They are young but still developing and although their ceilings are only as role players, they are still important and needed
Look at how Matt Barnes impacts a team and during the prime of Pietrus, they were both a big part of Orlando and Golden State when they both were UNDER RATED and went to the NBA Finals and beat out Dallas in the 1st round

Sure we still have our 3.2m MLE at least, if CA walks for nothing, we get the full 5m+ MLE to use, we can divide it for 2, maybe 3 players (especially for late 2nd rounders/Euro players/ and undrafted players, just to get the 3 year deal (so we do not get a Jeremy Lin/Fields to worry about developing a player so another team can put us in a position to lose them or overpay to keep them)
I don't want to concentrate on the MLE because of CA's situation, regardless we will need to clear out room and find CHEAP TALENTS in order to preserve cap space for 2015 ( K Love and many players) and possibly even 2016 (Durant/Noah)
So regardless we want to sign players that can be part of our future and out produce their value's that they currently are, being a piece to the puzzle in our future

With these players, they have the ability to be a solid role players, especially within a LEGIT system
That is how I feel about these role players, with only the vet min the offer, I would do a guaranteed deal if needed for James Johnson and partial guarantee for the less proven Ebanks
For our roster, we don't have any LEGIT SF's only SG's playing undersized at the SF, however, we need SF/PF's in the current league along with LEGIT SF's

I also would like to see where Brandon Rush is at while he is a UFA
He is a G/F however, he has long reach and is still recovering from his ACL/KNEE injury, especially if we move some of our SG's in Iman, JR Smith, and Tim Hardaway JR

I am big fan of Jamalle Haggins that was undrafted in previous drafts, along with Trevor Booker, to play a Kmart role on our roster at PF
Whether in Pops systems or Phil Jacksons triangle, they had multiple PG's and PF/C's to utilize, in addition to many players that can do multiple things above average

We must understand what made SA a contender for so many years and how they beat the Heat this year, in addition to the role players in the Triangle
Needing multiple players that can do multiple things and working as a team to MOVE THE BALL, MOVE WITHOUT THE BALL, UTILIZE PICKS both ON and OFF the ball, MAKING plays that creates room for each other and ATTACKING AS A TEAM as opposed to 1 or 2 players in ISO/ CLEARING OUT/ SPREAD OFF, like how Houston/OKC has played

IF we do get the opportunity to sign and trade Melo and are able to get back picks in this draft and future drafts, we have more options, however, I am handpicking players that could go undrafted and picks that we can possibly buy/trade for that are realistic

^ Not sure Hairston's a good fit for us. We already have JR Smith who's VERY similar, then THJ & Shumpert. Where does this kid fit, unless we decide to trade one of these other 3 (is Hairston that much better than THJ?)? Plus, if we wanted to upgrade the 2G position, I'm not convinced we couldn't do that by just signing guys like Terrence Williams, DeQuan Jones, Seth Curry, BJ Young etc., to a reasonable low-money 2 or 3-yr contract. The kid's talented and the NC trouble seems overblown -- I'm just not sure he's one of the guys I'd target for this team. I guess they see star potential here. Otherwise, he might be a smokescreen. Maybe we're really interested in someone else. I think I'd rather have Dinwiddie if we go for a big guard.

Hairston's got a pure deep effortless jumpshot. His physical profile is the best for any 2G in the draft 6-5 230 w a 37 inch vertical and long arms.

He needs to do a lot of things better---pass rebound for his size? defend. He looks very laid back as well.

Sounds like the nets are going to lose both Blatche and livingston. Livingston was kidd's guy. Nets trying to trade for jarrett jack. I think jack is a great fit for them especially with Williams health issues.

Ken Berger reporting we are targeting Tyler Ennis or P.J. Hairston if the Knicks successfully acquire a first rounder.
