Do you think he is still valued as a better player? I know Tyson has some accolades but his play has been really bad for awhile now.

Gortat was coming off a down year too when he got traded so I doubt Tyson bad season will hurt him. Those accolades and championship ring carry weight throughout the league. Also, It wasn't a really bad season it just that he didn't perform in the playoffs last year and he didn't seem motivated this year. He still will play defense(if motivated),rebound, and space the floor on PnRs. He is valuable to a team on the brink of a championship or a team that is ready to take a jump into the playoffs.

Another factor is that it is a contract year for him.

You know, Gortat and Tyson are about the same age and aren't far off in terms of production. But Gortat's deal is more cap friendly and he is more durable.

Does Gortat only dunk? I think that he has other moves. I don't see them as being similar players.

The Spurs beating down OKC will hopefully lead to them wanting Tyson. Steven Adams is clearly the future and their is a very good chance they might feature him next season but a guy can hope.

The smarter play is to relieve themselves of Perkins and rent Tyson for a year or resign him at a better price when his contract comes up.

I think that their best play would be to trade Westbrook for multiple picks and maybe one savvy vet. They will never win them playing together.

Durant also should develop a post game.

And ... Ibaka should not get injured

If they give up too much for Tyson then they are not as well run as people think

No, but their production is and they're only a year apart in terms of age. I expect Gortat to get paid more than $7 million next season.

I disagree with you on Westbrook. Although, if they made a call to the Cavs they might could pull off a great deal. A #1 pick, Irving, and change for Westbrook, lamb, and whatever. They probably could get more.

I think Westbrook is necessary for OKC and it would be a different series if Ibaka was their.
I really think they Kevin and Russell need better coaching.

Maybe you're right but Westbrook is not a PG, he is more of a 2. But he is not a good enough shooter to be a true 2. It just does not seem like a good pairing.

I don't really think its Brooks. They are just not as good especially without Ibaka. And, Durant REALLY needs a post game. Lebron needed it too.

I just think that this is the time to maximize the value that they can get in a trade for Westbrook.

RonRon @ 5/22/2014 12:33 AM

Looking at their numbers is similar but the numbers do not tell the whole story, if you actually watch the 2 play you can tell

Gortat (though in a contract year) > Chandler

Gortat makes less than Chandler, making him much more attractive at almost 1/2 his price

Gortat is one of the LIGHTEST BIGS with his footwork/agility with very good length/athleticism
Those skills compliment a PG like Wall, with the PnR and his ability to fake screens and cut b4 the DEF recovers, with the amount of shooters to keep the opponents DEF honest for the room in the paint

Chandler has declined much since coming here however, he hasn't had much help with a horrible coaches philosophy as well

Most importantly John Wall is 10x the player Felton is, which compliments Gortat along with Beal, Ariza, and Nene with Booker, Miller, Webster, Serephin/Gooden on the bench
