Los Angeles Clippers assistant Tyronn Lue will interview for the Cleveland Cavaliers' head-coaching job late next week, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

The Cavaliers had closely examined the college ranks for a head coach, and are now looking at the landscape of NBA assistant coaches and former head coaches.

Cleveland's opening has grown more appealing with the franchise winning the draft lottery for third time in four years. The Cavaliers have a chance to draft a potential franchise cornerstone with the No. 1 overall pick to go with All-Star point guard Kyrie Irving.

In five years as an assistant under coach Doc Rivers with the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Clippers, Lue has developed into one of the NBA's most well-regarded young head-coaching prospects.

Lue, 37, played 10 seasons in the NBA for eight teams, and won two championships with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2000 and '01.

Another member of the Clippers' coaching staff, Alvin Gentry, also will be a candidate for the Cavaliers job. Gentry has a strong relationship with general manager David Griffin extending back to their days together with the Phoenix Suns.

Assumptive ego centric Knick fan thinks all media speculation under consideration in the Jax tree of coaching that takes another job will be another fiasco and failure for Phil.

Tyronn Lue MIGHT be on his list, but It appears Phil is not making his list all that public.

Lets be real, its one thing to read his name, but "Coach Ty Lue" really does not exude the authority as other names.

Hey, if the guy can coach, Im all for it.
Cav's job could be a good one but is gilbert the kind of owner you want to work for?

Linked to this from another knick site I go to. Lue's name has been mentioned in conjunction with Jax a lot. Thought it was relevant.

Media is not assisting, it maybe hyping. To think Gm's and owners are not knowing about this guy but read it in Hoopshype and go, "Hey, what about Ty Lue" like most of us posters like to throw out......"Hey, what about......."......is presumptive in my book.

Media hypes it to readers who think they are part of the process some how. We all guilty of this by the way. Nalod is above most of it, but not all of it as well.

We all have our opinions but they are based on Media content.

How do assistants really get hyped? Maybe thru agents, or lead coach's hyping their assistants when asked? Maybe there is a posting thru the league of assistants who aspire for head duties?

To me, it seems that these guys interview and that gives them some exposure as well.

Kind of reminds me of Ewing and the media mention sort of gives fans some thinking that Ewing has prospects. Seems to me Patrick has not sniffed a head coaching gig other than our Dleague. Remember when some posters were calling for Starks to get a shot a few years back? Based on what? Media?
