Ha, yeah it's uncanny how in tune with this board Phil is! Before his hiring, a lot of posters wanted:
- A fresh new coach like Vogel or Brad Stevens
- more use of analytics
- don't over pay Melo
-Stop trading away picks
- stop negotiating against ourselves.Seems like Phil is in agreement. Ha- he's even bitter about the Denver trade
those are good rules to follow. I like that, and yea, even phil knows the denver trade killed this franchise.. time to stop making deals like that...
So the Amare signing and MDA signing was a great get??

Common sense was co bit-up by Knicks organization that any reasonable thinking looks like revelation.
The direction is there but it will be a bumpy road. It's a long way from trash to elite.
But you need to start sometimes...
Took 10 years for Rangers to get back to the elite of NHL after Dolan nonsense stopped.
Overall i'm very happy about the change in culture that is taking place under Phil. No matter what happens the underlying culture is what will be most important. As Phil said, they're fortunate if Melo stays or not. Fortunate if Kerr or Fisher comes or not. The most important person right now is Phil and his philosophy for this franchise. You can put in new players and different coaches that should fit in with the culture. Good players will be better and great players better still.
gunsnewing wrote:Phil prefers a guy with no experience or previous coaching ties. That quite says it all. He is looking for a young charismatic coaching mind who can be an extention of himself since he can't physically coach himself. It ain't that complicated!
Phil knows that the ability to inspire players and get them to buy in is key. He can always bring in techinical coaches for the X's and O's to help, but the much harder part is finding a real leader of men. So he knows he has the Triangle as a base but wants a man with intangibles that players will run thru walls for and won't tune out.
Steve Kerr denies he had verbal agreement with Phil Jackson and Knicks

OKLAHOMA CITY _ Steve Kerr doesn't quite agree with Phil Jackson's contention that Kerr made a verbal commitment to take the Knicks' coaching job before he settled on accepting the Warriors' vacancy."We were very close, but we never agreed to a contract,'' Kerr told the Daily News Saturday night before working Game 6 of the Western Conference Finals for TNT. "We didn't have a handshake agreement or anything like that. But I did think I was going to go there. And I think Phil and I both thought it was going to happen.''
Kerr's view of what transpired contradicts Jackson's version of things.

It's just semantics. Kerr knows he was coming here and then GS came back with a big offer and put on the full court press to convince him to go there. I'm pretty sure he was being really positive with Phil and gave him the impression he wanted to come to NY, before GS made that over the top offer at the end.

So "Kerraziness" ends as this offseason's weak-ass version of "Linsanity"!
Boston has 10 first round picks in the next 5 years! Its not just thru the draft, one can make trades with a combo of players and picks.
They did it to get Ray and KG.
My take is Phil will look to rehab Bargnani and identify others that we can sign and fit in a system. Good systems develope role players!
Pop got 26 pts form Diaw the other nite who he got on waivers!!
Next generation of champion teams won't be build like the Heat. Pacers and Thunder keep knocking on the door and have Heat/Spurs int their way.
OKC/Indy finals is not the glory match up but NBA is not a regional league anymore.

Yep, but the loss of our 2016 pick is really going to be a kick to the balls

Just gotta work around that. I think it just makes a bit more work for Phil and the staff to find those diamonds in the rough out there. There's always a good player or 2 that can be found with good scout work.
For the rest of Phil's tenure we'll have picks after 2016. Phil knows he'll be dealing with the mistakes of the past for a few more years. Can't let that shake you tho.
It would be great if deals Phil makes this summer lead to more picks in the future and some young prospects now. This is likely his plan anyway.

was justin bieber paying close to 100k for a custom cadillac a GREAT get?
what does amare and MDA have to do with what we are talking about?

true and it is an irrelevant and baiting question.. at the time MDA was the best coach available and amare the best FA available... Amare knees betrayed him and dantoni was sabotaged by a bunch of malcontents one who was traded here in one of the worst trades in knick history..
even after getting amare and MDA the knicks still had picks, assets and a future... and on top of that they had nothing to do with what phil touched on.. he talked about not overpaying for carmelo, not trading away picks, and not negotiation vs themselves... well none of that was done with amare and Dantoni... only knick fans who are still trying to justify this teams silly moves will detract from, the real issues at hand.. hence you get a ridiculous question like this
So the Amare signing and MDA signing was a great get??
which is completely irrelevant to what we are discussing..

You are acting like the Denver trade killed us and not MDA's need for Amare at all cost...Amare gave us half a season on a 100 mil deal.."Trade or no trade", Amare's contract and health destroyed us...

what I act like has nothing to do with what is being discussed!!! focus on the issues!!! what did your saviour phil touch on? that is what I am addressing.. THATS ALL!!
And if you think this mess we are in had to do with MDA and amare, it just prove me correct.. before the dreadful trade MDA and amare were above .500... not sure how that killed the knicks.. just stop it... we didn't trade picks, we didn't trade young players to get them.. this is what Phil is touching on.. I know it hurts but suck it up..
