Knicks · Knicks work out Patrick Young (page 1)

I like this- a brusing old school '90's Knick for the frontcourt. If only he slips to the 2nd round and we can buy a pick. At least its worth the due diligence.

He'll be there in the 2nd easily. Good defensive back up big that you play for 20 minutes a game.

Man is it going to be interesting to see what kind of players Phil targets and actually brings in. Summer League should be real interesting this year. A kid like P Young has the body to get it going real soon. Won't have to wait for him to bulk up.
NYKBocker @ 6/4/2014 10:15 AM
I love Phil's comments. They are refreshing.
CrushAlot @ 6/4/2014 10:17 AM
Draftnet doesn't have Young going in the second round. Draftexpress has him going at 41.
Knixkik @ 6/4/2014 3:47 PM
He is trying to move up into the first round and for some reason i think Kyle Anderson of UCLA might be a target. His stock seems to be dipping because his physical abilities aren't really tailor-made for the workouts and combine. But he just seems like a sleeper and a unique Phil type of player.
smackeddog @ 6/4/2014 4:06 PM
Also apparently we're working out PJ Hairston, which means we're looking to get a late first rounder. Odd that we're looking at a SG- wonder if Shump, Tim Jr or Jr are on their way out?

which site do you like? I seem to gravitate to DraftExpress and thought most considered it the Gold Standards for draft stuff

I like draftnet but it might just be because that was the site I went to first. I go to both and like that you guys have links to them on the tool bar.

If a Patrick is in the plans
Nyk may as well work out Patrick Ewing, at lease Ew with the added weight at his age
can command the paint with all the beef he put on his body. He can knock down foes on their tails as opposed to knockin' jumpers down

I'd rather go for another PG or face up combo forward with three point range. I like what Atlanta did in the playoffs with their five out offense. It'd be cool if we could get a
Mike Scott type.

I think it all depends on IF we have a pick and where it is and who has already been taken. Its very hard to speculate with no pick we have no idea who may fall et al to many intangibles we know nothing about. I will say while PJ Hairston is one of the more talented guys in the draft with a great body--his character red flags are very high. I dont want to start a team with guys who have been involved with guns felons drugs AFTER they entered college . NC works hard and sweeping stuff under the rug and they did not sweep PJ--they remove d him. I think u look at stuff like that very strong from now on.

that's a serious red flag but what if it's this guy's cousin or something? I am definitely all for due diligence but I am unwilling to write him off completely. The only way to get talent at the position we may be able to draft at is by assuming some risk. I'd rather take a chance on a guy like Lance Stephenson than Andy Rautins and/or Landry Fields

That and the fact that we have veteran, project and solid rookie already at the SG position wouldmake me hesitant about using a first round pick on Hairston. Hairston has talent, but there are other holes we should plug before getting another SG. Now if he's available as a second round pick, then I say draft him.

2 of my favorite Young plays.

He also got to work out with this guy in the summer. I guess that's why he is an high energy player.

yellowboy90 @ 6/5/2014 5:41 PM
On another note. The Young's college teammate, Scottie Wilbekin worked out for the knicks Wednesday. I think he is a great summer league UFA and borderline 2nd rounder if he fits your system. I think he would fit the triangle because of his defense, IQ, 3pt shooting, and IQ.
