What happens when it doesn't work out when drafting a player? Majority of the time, trying to draft a superstar ends up in a not so great player, an injury prone player or a good player who will leave for more money. We tried to do this and drafted Gallo, Sweetney and other bust players. If its championship or bust then OKC, Indiana, Clippers, Rockets, Chicago etc are all busts. If its trying to build a competitive team then building around Melo is the fastest way to build a competitive team. It's easy to say build around the draft but its much harder to do unless you are able to draft Duncan.

gallo is injury-prone and yet was immediately offered a 10 million dollar contract. i think you want to throw him under the bus with true bums just to be annoying. basically he was a decent number 6 pick. there's usually a big dropoff between the top 2 draft picks.

he's had a better career than both beasley and mayo, donthcha think?

I don't know if that really means much. With that argument, I could make Jerome James seem valuable.

well let me ask you this: ujiri is considered an absolute genius and he was the gm for that deal.

do you recall who the gm was who signed jerome james? and was that gm considered a genius?

I never said I disagreed with you. I'm saying the bold isn't much of an argument for Gallinari being good.

so you think ujiri made a mistake. the same ujiri who managed to gm the gallo gang to 57 wins and the same ujiri who managed to turn around the raptors in one year.

Just saw the other day that Gallo said he might not be ready to start the season. I wonder if Ujiri had any involvement with hiring the current medical staff in Denver.

I realize you really liked those players but look at the words im typing. Just saying that Gallinari was immediately offered a 10 mil contact alone isn't a testament to how good (or bad) he is. That's why I made the Jerome James comparison. I don't watch enough Denver to speak on Gallinari but he hasn't exactly played much anyway.

He has missed time to injury every year heas been there. He has had to sit out more nugget games than he has played in and he just said that he might not be ready at the start of next season.

Yeah things like that make it hard to evaluate him even if I did watch the Nuggets. All I've heard mostly was his "potential" and that dates back to when he was in NY.

I'm surprised there's no talk of Melo and/or Lebron teaming up with Dirk in Dallas. That's a 50 win team with cap space. Maybe they think Dirk is too old?

Who cares about Dirk, they are the only ones who gave SA a series. Dallas is well coached and with some important pieces they can be right up there.
