The guy who scored an own goal who played for Colombia happened in 94. He was shot to death walking off the plane as the team arrived home

I thought he was in a bar in Bogota?
Edit: It was in the El Indio nightclub in Medellin. The cartel was a co owner of the team he played on in colombia. There was a great 30 for 30 on it a while back.

Brazil did not look very good. That's the second game in a row where they couldn't do much.

Not only is Brazil over hyped, they're also easily the dirtiest team in the tournament.
Ugly "football" they pretend to play
Did not get to watch Netherlands v. Australia. Seemed to be an amazing game.

Ditto, so pissed being at work watching the score update on my phone. Hoping to catch some of Spain-Chile.
Seeee ya Spain!
What a pathetic showing in the World Cup by the defending champs
It happens. France 2002 and Italy 2010 were no better.
Doesn't happen to Brasil & Germany

Really? Short memory.
1970-1994 Brazil didnt even make a international competition quarter final despite having some of the worlds best players like Zico, Socrates, Falcao and Eder.
Smashed in the quarterfinals 2006 and 2010 by France and the Netherlands respectively.
Germany failed to win a game at Euro 2000. They were knocked out in the group stage of Euro 2004.
Everybody fails at some point.

Spain had a really nice run with this group but they got old and now they are back to being disappointing again.

Brasil made it to the cup final in 98 after winning it all in 94.
Never in my lifetime did Brasil not get out if their group

Yeah they did. Its a little bit sad cuz Xavi Iniasta and David Villa were awesome to watch.
Tikki-takka works really well but only with impeccable, world class passing and first touch. Lose that, be it because of age or ambivalence or perhaps even a loss of hunger and tikki takka is just boring and slow. Hence Chile knifed thru them like butter.

BraZil play a LOT less matches than the European teams. A lot less elite tournaments as well. Hence they were 22nd in the world in 2013.

So we know that you're under 48 years old, Guns. 1966, Brazil failed to come out of the group.
Only the World Cup matters. Brasil doesn't celebrate winning tournaments
Come on guns. Really?

BraZil look pretty damn celebratory to me #justsayin
Unless you want a nationwide poll. But it's ridiculous to say the Brazilians don't celebrate anything but the world cup. Makes me wonder just how much you follow football. No offense Guns
Sure you celebrate but nothing like the World Cup. Winning these tournaments is a nice bonus and helps gauge how the team is progressing in their quest for the World Cup. It's all about the World Cup in Brasil. I would think its the same for the other elite countries.
I'm sure winning the in between tournaments would mean the world to countries like USA, England & Mexico who are starving for any level excitement. It would rank as top moment in those nations history.
Trust me Fire No Brazilian Will be talking about winning the Conderation Cup in 4yrs. But rest assured if they win the World Cup this year they will forever talk about it. Just like they do regarding their previous 5 World Cup championships
