Sure you celebrate but nothing like the World Cup. Winning these tournaments is a nice bonus and helps gauge how the team is progressing in their quest for the World Cup. It's all about the World Cup in Brasil. I would think its the same for the other elite countries.

I'm sure winning the in between tournaments would mean the world to countries like USA, England & Mexico who are starving for any level excitement. It would rank as top moment in those nations history.

Trust me Fire No Brazilian Will be talking about winning the Conderation Cup in 4yrs. But rest assured if they win the World Cup this year they will forever talk about it. Just like they do regarding their previous 5 World Cup championships

gunsnewing @ 6/18/2014 7:37 PM
I wouldn't say Brasil is so overrated. Makes me question your thought process!

That would be England & Spain!

And Portugal and Argentina as they don't live up to expectations in the world cup

gunsnewing @ 6/18/2014 7:45 PM
At least England & Argentina have a rich World Cup history. Argentina more recently having won in 86.

What's up with England? They haven't won a World Cup since 1966. England's I only win

gunsnewing @ 6/18/2014 7:49 PM
This Mexico-Croatia matchup will be epic.

Brasil will wipe the floor with Cameron

So I'm reading. According to Spanish fans Brazilians are monkeys. This is why I will never root for Spain. Not in 2010 not ever. Racist bastards. Nice showing ignorant assholes

Ya remember the incident when fans threw a banana on the field at Dani Alves? It's was funny as he made the best of an awful situation and proceeded to eat it. There have been many nasty instances in Spain the past couple years with this racist nonsense. It's sad.

Dani Alves handled it well but that was so fucking racist. Shouldn't Villarreal walk off the pitch when their fans do this? Lifetime bans for fans are not going to do anything.

Not only is Brazil over hyped, they're also easily the dirtiest team in the tournament.

Ugly "football" they pretend to play

you don't watch much of the games huh ? what about Honduras ? at least the Brazil is trying to score ...

Looks like England is done.
gunsnewing @ 6/19/2014 5:27 PM
Luis Suarez is a beast.
alexs @ 6/19/2014 5:30 PM
Theoretically England can still stay in it but not when Italy and Costa Rico draw or if Costa Rica wins

He really is man. Missing those games because of suspensions and still scoring 10 more goals than the 2nd place guy in EPL. Liverpool would've won this year if he could have played 5 more games.

firefly,

a bit late, but i will say rooney has done well for united, but if you ask me, not the level he was a few years ago. for the national team he finally scored today his first ever goal for his country. that's ridiculous, but i know it happens. yes, he made a nice cross to create the goal against italy, but otherwise he was poor in tracking back and almost everywhere else. in fairness he should be a #10 or #9, which he was able to play in today, for naught.

as for gerrard, i 100% agree with you there. sad how he lost both the league (well not to me as a city supporter) and now likely knocking england out of the tournament.

how he is picked over yaya for 2nd best player this past season is beyond me. makes you wonder if that's really why yaya thinks he gets no respect, and not over a birthday cake...lol.

saurez is great, even if he is a biting racist. he sure is one emotional dude, as can be evidenced by a lot of his behavior, but maybe it helps him. nasri is a bit like that on city, but dechamps didn't want him for france...boo to them, btw, even if france looked pretty good in the first game.

i dunno about that last comment. city could have won by more if we hadn't lost aguero for so many games, or silva, or nasri who went down when he was playing great.

arsenal had it the worst with injuries for the top clubs, but city had it second as we barely had a few games with our top guys playing together.

PresIke @ 6/19/2014 6:06 PM
oh, and jozy does not suck. stop that nonsense.

he's not great, but he can be pretty good. he needs confidence. we will miss him sorely.

going to be tough for the u.s. with dempsey basically only able to breathe out of one nostril.

where is the offense going to come from? bradley is going to have to play great, as will jones, and the defense is going to have to be better.

You like Brazil with -2.5?

Dear World Cup Participant,

Please be aware of the following rule changes to this year’s tournament:

1. If you want to take a corner from outside the marked area, fine—but you’re getting a yellow card immediately after, and possession reverts to the opposition. You’re a professional footballer ffs, you can’t hit a cross into the box from 3 inches further away?

2. Gathering the ball into your hands when you think you’ve been fouled, but before the whistle is gone: yellow card—even if you get the free. The ball was still in play and you handled it; did nobody tell you about that being against the rules?

3. Waving an imaginary card into the ref’s face, trying to get your opponent booked: straight red. You’re not the ref, nor do you have Parkinson’s.

4. Team with the lead has player who needs to be stretchered off? Fine. But he has to stay off and receive medical attention for two full minutes before being allowed back. No miraculous recoveries.

5. Being Ronaldo: straight red. No wait, lifetime ban.

6. Penalty dives to be assessed by a team of judges with scorecards reading 1-10. The player with the highest score by the end of the tournament to be forced to participate in the high dive competition in the next Olympics.

7. Penalties to be called for every corner kick taken, until someone learns to defend a corner without hanging out of/dragging/pulling their opponents. Given how much fouling there is in these situations, this is debatably not a rule change at all, more than an enforcing of existing rules.

8. Any player who rolls 360 degrees or more after a challenge—even if fouled—to be forced to play Rugby/American Football/Hurling as culturally appropriate, but with neither helmet nor padding. We’ll give you something to feckin’ moan about.

9. But you can take your shirt off after scoring. Seriously FIFA, that’s the dumbest yellow card offence there is. There aren’t more serious issues you can tackle?

10. All matches involving England to conclude with a penalty shoot-out. You know why.

gunsnewing @ 6/19/2014 9:30 PM
lol nice
Silverfuel @ 6/20/2014 8:52 AM
Wow, this is brutal.

gunsnewing @ 6/20/2014 1:39 PM
Costa Rica man!

Are they really gonna beat Italy?!

markvmc @ 6/20/2014 3:13 PM
England officially done; slightly earlier even than expected.
