Knicks · Stop Playing Amateur GM. Phil Jackson will purge the entire roster in 2015. (page 1)

misterearl @ 6/13/2014 1:21 PM
Kvetching over Carmelo Anthony is a waste of energy. Proposing one-sided, crazy-talk trades is like proposing to Jessica Alba and expecting a response... it ain't gonna happen.

No matter what happens in 2014, Derek Fisher and Phil are using the season for open auditions. You want to speculate? Speculate on the summer league roster standouts who get invited to Greenburgh in October. That is where the work starts. Not with fantasy trade proposals.

Of course, it is June and NBA basketball is one game from being over. Think of it this way, the World Cup on Univision is big fun.

Patience. Uncle Phil is at the controls.

Silverfuel @ 6/13/2014 1:26 PM
LOL, awesome.

I am both hoping for and think and full purge is on the way. Even if Knicks sign Anthony long term, I think he will be moved later.
gunsnewing @ 6/13/2014 1:51 PM
That would excite the hell out of me

martin - we both know that the NY media machine has to maintain interest in its product, not the Knicks, and manufacture rumors (Kevin Love was seen at Sbarro's), reports from un-named sources (Steve Kerr is certain to take the Knicks job) and juicy gossip (big four my butt) just to sell papers.

If one sorts through the trash, sifts bullsh*t from fact, and simply does some independent thinking - a true hoops kung-fu master might surmise that Uncle Phil will shape the Knicks in the image of 1970-73, just for the good times.

That does not imply "stars" or free agent-freak-of-the-week... it translates into basketball players with miniature egos, who play defense and share the rock.

Think about it. Ignore the hype.

Fans have been brainwashed by the starphuch

Take a deep breathe and build a sustainable winner like the spurs

It won't happen overnight

Silverfuel @ 6/13/2014 2:27 PM
Many have tried and failed. It takes more than a deep breath.

It will require a minimum of three years

Year one - clear the decks

Year two - sign 2-3 core players, not superstars, not stars... Core players.

Year three - draft wisely and pray he is not a mirage

Excelent Point. Its ironic that the Knicks dont wsnt to do a real rebuild yet we have been in the worse shape the past 15 years because of starphuching

You know who's to blame for that, right?

Phil: Winter is coming...
Yeah, the purge is coming imo.

mreinman @ 6/13/2014 3:21 PM
I think that we need to tank every game, win the lottery, get the next Tim Duncan and then sign Pop to 5 years @ 100 million. Then we should sign R Buford for another 20 mil per just to find us those foreign gems.

I think that I will just be happy with my Gmen and Yankees.

Nalod @ 6/13/2014 3:47 PM

I just have to have faith that Phil and his band of over achievers are not here just for the money. Phils Vision with or with out Melo had to be with clarity and doable before he signed on.

Right? I mean this is the choosen one? The one with the force? Touched by god?

Starphuching isn't "the" problem just like rebuilding through the draft isn't "the" answer. No matter what route you take it comes down to setting standards and having a plan. Most would agree adding stars isn't a problem if the price is a bargain and or a big picture plan is in place. Just like depending on the draft without setting up a healthy development and growth process for the draft picks you plan on bringing in.

Thank you so much. Who cares how we get the star players as long as we get them for the right price? Drafting talent doesn't mean they stay. OKC drafted really well and then Harden forced his way out. Let Phil Jackson figure this out. I think he will.

I'm 100% on board for that plan. Knicks fans aren't patient? Bullsheehit. I trust Phil to purge and recreate the team as he sees fit until he proves to be incompetent (which I highly doubt).

Yes, its a Hybrid of sorts. Seems like if you get a cornerstone player "organically" it works best. Detroit got Ben Wallace after orlando disgarded him. He was the backbone of Defense. Boston had Pierce. Dirk in Dallas from the Traylor trade, Wade in Miami. If your supersmooth like SAS, you get lucky (Duncan) but Parker-Manu picks are value added.

Eddy for what became Aldridge and Noah is this process in reverse.

Papabear Says

Remember it wasn't Phil who put the team together in Chicago or Los Angeles it was the brass GM.

AnswerMan Says - that is precisely why Uncle Phil has the title President of Basketball Operations.

This is HIS show now.

Best injury in sports history was david Robinson. It would be very hard to duplicate the impact that had on the spurs franchise.
