Knicks · OT: Is gambling a sin? (page 1)

Bonn1997 @ 6/15/2014 9:52 AM
Well, sin is a religious term and doesn't really relate to how I think about the world.
I don't have a problem with anyone gambling as long as they're not also a direct participant in the event.

oh yea,

better word would be: "something not good for your soul" to do?

i placed my second ever sports wager today on argentina bosnia game, argentina -0.5 @ 1.83 first half, you think i'll win it?

Hector @ 6/15/2014 10:16 AM
Fuck no it isn't!
Hector @ 6/15/2014 10:18 AM
I had The Knicks 20-1 in 99 to win it all, and I didn't hedge on San Antonio once they made the finals even though I knew I had no shot.

That still pisses me off today!

Vmart @ 6/15/2014 10:26 AM
It depends on if you can live with yourself. If you blowing you kids college fund and taking an equity loan on your house to gamble it maybe a problem.

what if you only put a small bet on argentina -0.5 first half line at 1.83? and this is only your second sports bet ever in your life? the previous one was on knicks against clippers last november

That is why I chose Grey area. If your betting small than I'm not going to consider that as a sin. I never considered gambling to be a sin unless someone goes overboard with it.

ok that's fair, so i'm still a good person then

strong chance on this one because argentina is loaded and 1 goal before half is not so much to ask!!!

What were you doing betting Knicks-clips in November?!

H1AND1 @ 6/15/2014 12:13 PM
Yes. Every time you make bet the red glass encased emergency phone rings in the omnipotent bearded man's floating office in the sky and he pulls out his book of 3 billion names and he puts a big red X next to your name, sighs, shakes his head, and thinks about how cute your old baby pics were and how he's gonna be so sad when he condemns you to burn in eternal hellfire all because you bet money on Ecuador-Switzerland.

that's basically what i'm afriad of,

the old childhood pics really hit home. i still see pictures of myself as a little kid at my mom's house and i feel guilty that i'm putting money on argentina now first half line, -0.5; do you think i will win this? if we win this bet then everything is forgiven
