Knicks · Luol Deng........... (page 1)

Nalod @ 6/18/2014 4:22 PM
If melo leaves and we dont' take back any contracts we can get him.

Im not thinking longer term, but if the roster stays the same for next year (unlikely) and we do nothing but infuse new coaching and a system Im thinking our drop off won't be terrible.

He can always be traded in a year to open cap space, or say hold some salary for 2016 for Durant while we massively retool.WHat is he, a 10-12 mil per year player?? Movable??

Lots of things are gonna happen. This is going to be fun!!!

yellowboy90 @ 6/18/2014 4:39 PM
Luol Deng is a 5m player that can't shoot and is injury prone. So why not add hum to the knicks. If I'm the Heat I would think about adding him to the bench if everyone stays.

Yeah, I think Deng would thrive with a lower usage. He'd not a guy who's meant to create a lot of shots. Unfortunately, the bulls didn't have a lot of other options. I think he'd be a perfect fit in Miami. I can even see him starting. But the Heat have so many questions at PG and they need more size. Deng is probably a luxury they can't afford. I also think he pulls in more than $5M. Teams will start getting desperate after the Love and Melo situations come to a resolution.

NardDogNation @ 6/18/2014 8:22 PM
I only see Deng taking a buttload of money from either the Lakers or Mavericks, most likely the Lakers this offseason. He's an older guy and will want to play for a veteran team looking to win AND pay him an exorbitant amount of money (the latter reason being why he was traded from Chicago).

If I had any serious kind of money to throw at a free agent swingman, it would be Evan Turner who is young enough to be worth the investment. I think that all that guy needs is a team that believes in him and is willing to give him an opportunity. I wouldn't be surprised though to see Lance Stephenson traded and Turner assume his spot though.

I like this dude.. Luoluoluolololol
H1AND1 @ 6/18/2014 10:04 PM
If Melo leaves arent we are still $10 million or so over the cap. How would we get him exactly?

for his career he is a 46% shooter.. so either he is getting a lot of dunks ala shaq style or he is scoring on the perimeter which means he is a pretty good shooter..

Injury prone? not sure I would call him that.. what he is tho is a heck of a small foward who can play both sides of the ball...

I would. why in the world would indy do that? they barely played turner in the playoffs.. that isn't a sign of a team wanting to keep a guy over someone like lance stephenson..

If he is getting a lot of dunks and only shoots 46% he is awful. Who wants a guy who shoots 46% at the rim. His efg% has only been over 50% twice in his career. His perimeter shooting sucks because he is not even an average 3pt shooter.

He is a expensive one sided player that has been pushed very hard by Thibs. If you want a defensive player that can't shoot but plays defense and rebounds well why not get Aminu for the vet minimum or Sefolosa.

Finestrg @ 6/19/2014 3:59 AM
A little tunnel vision on my part but Devin Ebanks, DeQuan Jones and Terrence Williams are the players I'd like to see us add that can play SF.

He's had a few decent years shooting from three. The wheels really came off after Rose got injured and he was forced to create more. I could see him thriving in Dallas as a solid two way player. Just don't expect to carry the offensive load and try to get a team option on that last year if it's a four year deal.
fishmike @ 6/19/2014 12:31 PM
Deng would be a really nice role player. Too many miles to be one of your core guys. I can see someone signing him for 4 years and $50mm+ and thats bad business. He may play at a high level for awhile but you can clearly see a physical breakdown starting.

you are missing my point... he obviously isn't getting most of his points on dunks... he is getting them on the perimeter.. so 46% is not that bad.. lets put it this way, for his career carmelo shoots less.. is he a bad shooter?

His perimeter shooting sucks because he is not even an average 3pt shooter.

that is not only ridiculous, but makes no sense.. it means he is not a good 3 pt shooter... doesn't mean he isn't a good shooter from the perimeter..

luol deng shot over 50% from the field one time in his career.. a lot of guys have never achieved that at all. including carmelo.. just saying..

for his career he shoots 48% from two... not bad at all.. again considering he isn't getting a ton of dunks... and layups...

you do want deng playing off the ball and when he does that he is a very good player.. He is also a very good defender as well. one of the better two way wings in the league when healthy..

You really need to understand efficiency. Smh. I'll leave it at that.

That's the season before this year actually but you can scroll to different seasons so thanks. Just wanted to clarify things for others.

Wow, basically you want to force Deng from getting right side attacks to the rim.

He wasn't too bad from the midrange. His three-point shot abandoned him tho.

I looked at his overall three point percentage and he put up solid three-point percentages from 2009-2012. 2013 is the season Rose missed and both Boozer and Deng had their shooting percentage suffer. His True Shooting percentage was OK in the Derrick Rose MVP year. All I'm saying is that he's a good two-way player who some scoring and defensive versatility. His game goes to crap the minute you start force feeding him ISOs and you depend on him to be a primary scorer.

Ah, oops, yeah my mistake. But anyway I posted it so people could look through different seasons if they wished.
