Im Glad Phil jackson looks like he wnats to try a buy a couple picks in this draft since its a deep class. We all the in the past 15 years the Knicks havent taken draft picks seriosuly by giving away picks for bad contracts/overrated players and teh results have been pretty terrible. Draft pciks are important even late round picks. The Spurs have had late round picks all these years and were able to fill in with good role players. Tim Hardaway Jr was a late round pck in a weak draft and he looks like a key player for our future. Point is im happy Phil is a GM who will find drafting important for sustained success
It's a smart business move to trade shump and avoid resigning him or trade jr to clean up locker room chemistry for a rookie on a cap friendly rookie contract with a high ceiling. Moves like this only helps the 2015 dream of landing multiple stars while gambling on a future star. What if by 2015 you drafted another solid rotation player or future star with cap room to put in the finishing pieces. And the whole world know jackson and fisher have the iq to build a championship team. It's a good feeling to have these guys drive your team.
If they are focused on p.j. hairiston I don't think they are taking it seriously.

Well I think pj could turn into a beast... But if shabazz Napier is around if we trade for a pick you gotta take him.

you're right he would be a risk BUT we all know Phil has dealt with high risk high reward typw players in his career. like i said im just happy the Knicks finally realize you need to draft some youth. Im not saying they need to build through the draft but the time of throwing away picks for crap has to end
How many 6'5 SGs with suspect handle and finishing abilities do the Knicks need?

He isnt the only player they're looking at

True, but he's the only player we've heard of. Any trade for Hairston probably needs to be done the night of the draft. He's projected to go anywhere from the mid- first round to the second.

Has a better ring to it than PJ, the new Mardy Collins.

+1. I like the idea of getting a first round pick but I don't like the idea of PJ Hairston. I don't think he'll be much more than a Maurice Evans or Keith Bogans type. I much rather have Spencer Dinwiddie. The guy seems like a perfect fit for the triangle and I wouldn't be surprised if the PJ Hairston hype is a smokescreen.

At least he has potential to be a two way player. Also doesn't mind being physical and taking hits. Seems to be what Phill is looking for- that other PF who was projected to be a second rounder was also noted as being a physical player who can take contact and still finish. We need to get tougher.
PJ sold weed in College. He got tossed.
JR would love it!

Everybody sold weed in college.....It's crazy how basic stuff that everybody has done before gets blown up in pro sports.
Im hoping we can purchase a pick and get a few in a sign and trade if Melo goes to the bulls. I have accepted that next year will be a rough one BUT at least we will have a good chance at a top 10 pick. Then we will ahve plenty fo cap space for the 2015 FA class. I think Phil's first plan has been to gather as many draft picks as he can either through tarde/purchase and then sign the big FA next year

From the workouts the Knicks conducted it appeared that they were looking at guys they might be able to get if they purchased a second round pick or that they could sign as undrafted rookie free agents. If this Melo thing was planned it seems like some first round talent would have been brought in.

PJ hairston is most likely a late 1st rounder. Im nto saying the melo thing is planned BUT Phil seemed to make line in sand taht if melo didnt opt in or take a pay cut then he would try and get assets in a sign and trade

I think PJ is ranked 23 in draftnet's mock. Pretty high for him in this draft. I wonder if Phil thought his combination of character issues and concerns about effort/ motivation would have him fall to the second round. I hope if the Knicks get a first rounder they look at other guys.

I have a feeling Phil Jackson has a better handle on what fits the triangle than we do.

There are a lot of red flags that come up with Hairston. He has character issues and there are questions about his motivation/motor. I think Phil might be hoping that his issues cause him to drop to the second round like a Van Exel or Stephenson. He is a great second round pick but I am not sure that he is a guy you target in the first round. I am hoping that the Knicks can somehow get Ennis.
