Ever since Phil Jackson came back to New York as President and big boss I've heard so many things.

1. Here comes the savior
2. We can take Melo or leave him no big deal.Says Phil
3. Steve Kerr is the coach for New York. Because Phil is the Zen Master.

Well Phil have met with Melo 2 times and Melo still walked. I said before Phil must be carefull what he says. He must remember he won those rings with the best players in basketball. Now I heard we were gonna go get Kevin Love,Rajon Rondo, Kyle Irving, Lebron James,Kevin Durant, Westbrooks and by the way how many playoff games in 5 or 6 years have Kevin Love played in? NONE as I can remember. Yet we are willing to let Melo walk for nothing assuming that next year the stars will come to the New York Knicks. Well it hasn't happened in 40 years so why now?? Because of Phil Jackson? I doubt it. His best recruiter is Melo. Melo is a star that can draw some better players. You don't think so ?? OK so lets not try to get our star back and lets see what we get next season. And by the way playing in San Antonio and living in San Antonio is much different than Playing and living in New York. It's a known fact that when so called good players come to NY their playing ability seem to drop.they can't handle the pressure. The city never sleep. Go ahead Phil Jackson let Melo walk and let's see whats up your sleeves for next season because the guys on this forum knows for a fact that the stars are coming here because of Phil Jackson. Well I would put my money on the bird at hand because there is no guarantee that whats in the bush will come to New York. What happened to Steve Kerr? One thing for sure if Phil sees no light at the end of the tunnel in 3 years he will quit to protect his rep. Here he tells Melo to take less while he fleeces Dolan for 60 million. Personally I don't think he is up to the task. I hope that I am wrong.

How many titles did Jordan, Shaq, and Kobe win before Phil Jackson? Zero. Remember after the Lakers three peat Jackson walked and Rudy Tomjonovich became coach and they never won again...until Jackson came back? Then Kobe won two more chips. Just saying.

Hopefully Jackson is here to finally build the team the "right way". By te way, all I mean by that is doing whatever the opposite of what the Knicks have done the past decade. Because they have royally sucked and built crap teams that were a national laughing stock. I don't get why you are anti Phil he hasn't even gotten a chance yet. Papabear the strategy the Knicks have employed for the past 15 years haven't won us jack sheehit. Time to change the management style and see what happens.

You know Melo has a choice in this too, right? How is Phil "letting" him walk when the decision is ultimately Melo's? I also don't see how he's responsible for Melo opting out when Melo made his intention to do so known before last season even started.

Y do you think Phil is just letting Melo walk? He clearly has been trying to convince Melo to stay, He tried to convince him to opt in and go into free agency next yr when we have cap space. Him talking about Melo taking less was just an honest assessment on trying to have the extra cash to build a championship team.

Him saying that we move with or without is also a way of selling Carmelo that the Knicks are going places and he should jump aboard. Its a tactic that I have often seen used.

If Melo leaves and we don't attract any stars then we just got to build our own.

nixluva @ 6/24/2014 9:16 PM
Thank God Phil being here and doing his best to completely change the culture around here doesn't depend on Knicks fans. Some of us just don't understand what Phil represents for this franchise. No we can't guarantee a title but i'd prefer to go with what Phil is planning than to keep doing what we've done for the last decade and more. It's clear from what he's said that he wants build a team with balance and players that understand "TEAM BB". Ball and player movement, spacing and intelligence. Not just winging it anymore with no plan or purpose to the offense and defense. Whether Melo decides to stay or go, isn't as important as these changes Phil is implementing. Just adding talent doesn't guarantee a title.
BigRedDog @ 6/24/2014 9:18 PM
Papabear, I don't know you but ever since Phil was hired every post of your is anti-Phil. Whats up with that? All these things you wrote that you "heard", how many actually came out of Phils mouth? Why don't you concentrate on the actual basketball decisions and don't let your hatred of Phil get in the way? BTW in what you write there is no right answer for the Melo decision. If we sign him to the max, its going to hurt the Knicks and if we let Melo go its going to hurt the Knicks. I personally would like to have Melo back but it has to be at the right price. With a salary cap there is no way signing Melo to the max can be good for the future of the Knicks and Phil knows that. If Melo doesnt want to sign at a reasonable price then that is out of Phils hands.

It's clearly Phil's fault that the salary cap was lowered, Melo is 30 plus and looking to win, our entire roster sucks, Dolan owns the Knicks, Lebron opted out. The list is endless. Clearly this is obvious right?

As Yogi once said "it's déjà vu all over again". Papabear with the I'm scared Melo will leave better butter him up Phil. Papabear I don't think Phil should cater to Melo and he shouldn't.

What is this thread about? We are randomly bashing Phil Jackson?
Guess it's his fault that Dolan owns the Knicks, the salary cap was reduced, Melo is thirty plus and looking to win, our roster is built to suck, Lebron opted out. So yeah I can seed why it's Phil's fault

Add Papa to list of fans who will need therapy once Melo bolts

Phils barely on the job and Papa ready to grade him, and all grumpy for a bad ending.

Maybe they can do group therapy and examine why they root for the Knicks when all they care about is one player.

If, and mean a big "IF" phil things he should go, I think it rather refreshing a thought.

I'd trust his opinion 13 times more than anyone else.

I do agree, phil is no savior, this is new territory for him. We can hope his basketball experience can translate to the front office..

Kevin love is a good player, but he hasn't won anything either, and hasn't even been to the playoffs yet.

Letting carmelo walk won't be for nothing.. It is called moving forward. Phil can't control what carmelo does at all now. so he won't be letting him walk.

I honestly don't think Phil like carmelo. That works for me...

yea, actually what carmelo does now should not be our concern..HE is no longer a knick. our focus should be on how Phil can help this team move forward and I am looking forward to doing that.. MOVING FORWARD!

He's not your concern, but you can bet your last buck that he is every bit of a concern to phil, fisher, and dolan
